IMO, win 8 is a bigger improvement than Win7

I myself legally bought Win8 recently for $65.

Just get a friend who's a student to forward an email to you. Simple as that.

If they gave me $80 and Windows 8 I still wouldn't use it.

then you probably have little to no understanding of the major under the hood changes from W7 and thus don't really know that W8 is a fantastic operating system and the only thing you probably wouldnt like is the Metro UI which can be ignored or disabled fairly easily.

You mean like sleep problems that weren't there in Windows 7, problems playing a video full-screen on one monitor while using apps in another? Win8 really delivers... badly.

I have been using it for months, there were initial bugs, as there have been with every OS launch in history, if you dont think so, you are getting older and forgetting more than you'd probably want.

Windows 8 is faster, easier to use, and frankly an over all better experience 90% of the time compared to 7

I have Windows 8 on four machines, I haven't seen any of the problems you've mentioned, while I noticed a increase in battery life as well as faster operation in most instances.

I'm not saying you're lying, but it seems like the problem that you got might be due to hardware/driver issues rather than Windows 8 itself.

There are no performance improvements. No reason to spend the money, especially if you hate the interface.

Same here. I have windows 8 on every PC in the house now, all upgraded from windows 7. I much prefer 8 for the HTPCs, and I already like it better on my main gaming desktop. Both of the HTPCs run quicker on win8 then they ever did on windows 7. I'll never go back.

There is.. SO much context missing here it isn't even funny. Anyways.. I'm talking relative performance.. like games. I hear some older games do have issues, but otherwise performance is the same. It does have a faster startup if you don't use hibernation, but the speed is probably sacrificed when you factor in how long it takes to click from metro to the desktop.

I will PROBABLY upgrade to windows 8 blue. But I doubt blue is a free hop from windows 8. -_-

For $10 or so you can get what Windows 8 should have been, buying Start8 and ModernMix from Stardock. For free you can get Classic Shell, which is almost as good (and better in some ways). My personal refusal to buy Windows 8 has to do with the fact that for free I can keep using Windows 7, which is a fine OS for me, and the under the hood improvements in Windows 8 are not worth validating Microsoft's attempt to force a terrible touch-centric UI on its users. I can't stop them, but I can at least decline to support them.
