so let me get this right, you took over a week an half to respond..
What difference does it make how long it took me to respond? The point is your statement:

I never said that I can't notice anything over 30fps so don't put words in my mouth.
Is directly contradicted by your earlier conmments:

you do realise that the human eye can't see any more than 30 fps right?

anything more isn't nessecary and is more of a placebo effect.
Stop detracting the issue with a smokescreen.

there is a "world of difference" between 25 and 30 FPS
Agreed, which makes MoH: PA all the more impressive since it's still pretty snappy @ 25 FPS.

STALKER is quite "responsive" above 30 FPS ... better than many games
To be honest I don't find it particularly better or worse than most games; drops below 60 FPS are reasonably easy to detect.

If you think you're getting a smooth framerate switch to the static path and you'll see what smooth really looks like.

I see, so you are just trolling then...

no matter what you say STALKER is still more than playable at 30+FPS

i have ... thank-you ... it looks like CRAP
--to me

i prefer 30+ FPS "smooth" with FDL than 45+ FPS with static ...
"smooth" means no hesitation and no problem whatsoever in firefights with responsive controls

OK?

are were clear?
--it IS a matter of *preference*

... and when i get my HD2900xt, it will be "no compromise" for STALKER

with "your" way or with "mine" it is still compromise ... i just like my way bettter ...
... strangely ... i can't explain 'why'

...perhaps its because with fdr enabled, it looks WORLDS better. the static path is dx8, which is pretty old by today's standards. strange that the static lighting isn't dx9...but i guess thats what happens when a game is in development for 6 years. you end up having the option of seeing what it would have looked like 6 years ago which, if i do say so myself, looks pretty good by those standards. just not nearly as good as the dx9 path.

there was a floating point mod released recently, which supposedly adds a significant performance boost, without taking away any eye candy. i think it has something to do with using a better compression technique. i don't think that its a part of the new patch either-- it must be obtained elsewhere (i believe it may have been a homebrew thing). anyone try it? i haven't been at home with my machine recently, but plan to try it as soon as we re-unite. also, did anyone that applied the most recent patch see any performance differences?

i think it's been out for awhile already ... it is a 'homebrew' ... but i think one or several of the stalker devs are involved with it

it's generally liked, from what i read ... i just don't need it.

You'll get a lot more than 45 FPS with static - it'll triple your framerate even when running full AA (which doesn't work with dynamic).

In benchmark runs I get around 50 FPS with dynamic + no AA while I get about ~150 with static + full AA. Static is vastly smoother.

You're statisfied but Stumps is claiming the human eye can't see more than 30 FPS which is utter BS.

Even worse he's denying he said it - even when I directly quote him - and claims I'm trolling.

oh ... well you did quote me in your post ....
... yeah i can see 'faster' then 30FPS ... but it is 'enough' for me for complete "immersion"
---but ... no problem ... you can take it up with Stumps

actually when i played STALKER ... and before i benched it with FRAPS ... i would have guessed it was faster than 30s ... by the smoothness and control's responsiveness
---i just didn't like the DX8 pathway ... i don't feel i am sacrificing anything ... maybe when i upgrade my GPU and OC my CPU further i will have it all ...

I have to chime in and say, sometimes it stutters badly when I'm trying to plug multiple (say) Mercs with my FT200 ,with lightning popping in the background....

I dunno maybe a Vram problem....or lack of cpu or unoptimized coding.

I can't wait to see if one year of hardware advancement fixes some issues...
