If you don’t like trump, would you be more or less likely to get out and vote if the impeachment vote fails along party lines?
I honestly don't know how it would be likely to go. I can totally imagine people being fired up and wanting to clean things up the only way they can. I can also totally imagine people being overwhelmed with a sense of "nothing matters, he gets away with *everything*" despair.

Similarly, I honestly don't know if the folks who are somewhat lukewarm Trump supporters will want to punish the Dems for their perceived overreach or if they'll tune out in disgust. (The Basket of Deplorables™, I assume, will and were always going to turn out and vote for their dear leader no matter what.)

Mitch McConnell had a meeting to discuss how to get rid of Obama BEFORE he took office.

Somehow Barack managed to get through 8 years without any of his people being indicted or thrown in prison
And don't forget that when a Republican looks at a democrat President lying about sex is an impeachable offense. We're looking at some deeply demented cult worshipers. Can you imagine the brain rot you'd have to have to see Trump as golden.

Have you even read the resolution? If anyone had doubts about the Democrat's impeachment process being nothing more than a political taken down, the resolution erased that. They have openly campaigned for impeachment since 11/9/2016.

The above has been brought to you by the Ministry of Culture and Public Enlightenment. (all the propaganda you can eat)

Nobody expects Trump to be removed from office. We just expect the GOP to show how truly craven & corrupt they really are. The only people staying home in 2020 might be some disgusted Republicans.

Let's be honest, its them being a Democrat that Republicans actually view as being an impeachable offense, they just used to give some lip service to justifying that with whatever impropriety they could claim as Americans used to hold even Republicans to some standard of honesty and rationality.

No need to imagine, we have a perfect example of the type of brain rot you'd need, its on display basically every single day (often multiple times per day even), Turmp himself. The saddest (would be funniest were it not for the ramifications) is that he's done basically everything possible to reveal the truth and yet there's enough people incapable of seeing it, he literally gilds himself with a fake spray on tan.

Lying under oath and obstruction of justice. Some people have a proclivity to forget the latter. Oh, and he remained President which is why those who would gleefully bat around a chubber over the vote today will probably end up with bruises.

Wouldn't expect anything less from him.

I have little doubt that it's an ethics violation. But there are some high hurdles around making a case that campaign contributions, as opposed to direct payments, are bribes. Does this administration have any ethics lawyers? I know they literally cancelled ethics training after the inauguration.

As it turned out, America was willing to forgive him. Covering up a sexual imbroglio was insufficient cause for removal. Trump's numerous transgressions are much more serious than that. He's unfit & unworthy of the office he holds.

And is the GOPs crowing achievement.. catching a democrat lying about a bj..

And after 20 years their followers still do a whataboutism on it.. it is almost like their followers think it is equal to the invention of fire.

good job on the utter useless investigation into a bj...

Don't forget winning at top down class warfare for nearly 40 years. All their other issues are insincere contrivance in service to that.

Lol, meanwhile Trump is ACTIVELY obstructing justice. He is threatening everyone that goes to testify with being fired. He is encouraging his entire staff to ignore congressional subpoenas. It isn't just 1 count of obstruction, he is doing all of this actively and in the open brazenly.

Yet, those aren't the charges democrats are focusing on. Even the perjury charges aren't what they are focusing on. What they are focusing on is the fact he unlawfully withheld funds to a foreign ally to bribe them into investigating the son of his political rival.

Christ, this isn't the same as telling your secretary to lie about a BJ. Bribery and election interference, one of which is SPECIFICALLY called out by the constitution as an impeachable offense!

Trying to paint this as "Same think Clinton did" is intellectually dishonest to the highest degree.

Obstruction of justice is the least criminal thing Trump has and continues to do.

I share this opinion.

Really Dems, you don't have a candidate and a way to beat him at the ballot booth? Apparently not, hence this. This whole debacle is just weak sauce by those who know they are already defeated. A lot of America will see it that way too. He may be impeached in the house, but he won't get removed and will be acquitted in the Senate. Please go for it and I'll laugh at the ham handed foolishness that went down, netting nothing but wasted time and resulting in a two term presidency for Trump. I'm saying this and I don't like the guy, but I can see. This will be politically fatal for Democrats. The better option would have been having a candidate that could win.

You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing, after they have exhausted all the other possibilities.
~Winston Churchill

Dear republicans, you’re getting really close to the point where you’ll have to do the right thing.

It’s fucking embarrassing that CNN would even entertain an opinion piece that stupid.

Why, because it's the truth? Sometimes truth looks stupid, especially when one is vehemently against it and comfortable that the outcome will be different.

The truth is you're on your way to Trumpistan not being part of America.

You're just too brainwashed to realize it.

I remember the righteous indignation the Republicans mounted about the evils of lying under oath but nothing about the blowhard we have in there now who lies when he opens his mouth. The levels of hypocrisy the Republicans have sunk to is truly a wonder to watch. They make me want to puke. Hypocrisy is dead.

My opinion is that if they didn't open an impeachment inquiry then they are failing the constitution and saying it's okay for the president to break the law and ignore the parts of the constitution he doesn't like.

And if you actually weren't brainwashed, you'd think about this.. Trump voters are older, Dem voters are younger.

How many Trump voters have died vs Dem voters in the last 3 years? How many in swing states?

We're polarized.. so you're not recruiting new voters.. no one is #walking away.. so where is Trump going to find more voters to vote for him to replace the ones that died?
