Full screen DVD playback with Avivo

I recently got a new PC with a 1900XT. Since it has Avivo and is near my LCD HDTV I was going to use it to play my DVDs from now on.

I have been trying to get everything working with my Dell 2005FPW before I bought a long DVI cable and I can't seem to get full screen play back of a DVD. The video always seems to be centered and never takes up the entire screen.

Maybe I am missing something very obvious but I can't seem to find the solution in the Catalyst control center.

Any help is appreciated.

Your DVD is normally encoded at 720x480
You Dell is at 1680x1050
Maby your DVD player just can't upsize it.

Besides the DVD player in your computer+Media Player Classic+ffdshow=far better DVD watching on the computer.

You should have aspect ratio and full screen options in your DVD software. The only Catalyst drivers options is for scaling full screen using "Theater Mode".

I tried the option in the Catalyst driver for full screen and still nothing.

So am I wrong in assuming that if I use windows media player that I will get the AVIVIO filtering applied to my DVDs? Because right now that is all I want to do. I want to be able to use my PC to play DVDs on my 1080p LCD TV with all the filtering that AVIO offers since it will look much better than the DVD player I have now.

If you use WMP10/11 with Catalyst drivers and a supported DVD decoder (Cyberlink for instance) you will get full AVIVO hardware features using High Quality mode (Tools>Options>Performance>Advanced>Under "video acceleration"check "use high quality mode" and check "turn on DirectX Video Acceleration"...Under DVD video uncheck "Use Overlays"

Make sure you set the deinterlacing mode and pull down detection in the Catalyst drivers (Theater mode settings only affect the Overlay which will be disabled when rendering using these settings...so they can be ignored)
