Full size ATX PSU in microATX case

I know the Ahanix Plasma case supports this, as verified by fellow forum member, Bookie. He said the construction of the case is crap, which doesn't put me off completely from buying it, but I don't know what the alternatives are. I already have a suitable PSU, so I don't need one built in, and I'd rather not get a microATX case w/a microATX PSU. Any good cheap ones out there?

Inwin's V-series models will accept a full-sized ATX power supply. They're not bad, got an 80mm exhaust and respectable build quality, plus you can see :camera:'s of a whole fleet of them at Newegg

Hmm, they look like they'd be the most functional cases, especially with the side duct, but... they're pretty darn ugly! :Q

This Athanatech cause uses ATX supplies. I've been using it for about a month and modded the side where the ugly duct is and installed a window kit. I'm about to embark on a journey to watercool it now. It's functional, houses 2 80mm fans and doesn't look too bad. If you're into modding you should be able to cut a 92mm or even a 120mm fan in the front of the case.

One other person here who bought one, mentioned that only one of the drive positions (the lower one) in each of the 3.5" brackets is fully functional (in that athenatech case). Note that in newegg's pix, the forward hole that should be inline with the slots is missing in the top position of each bracket. Is that true for your case, or has that been fixed?
. It looks like there is a set of holes where a drive could be mounted upside down, but I have never found that to be a useful option.

I bought this Enlight case and mounted a full sized ATX PSU. Fit perfectly with a Lite-On CDRW/DVD combo drive. A standard length CD-ROM drive would have stuck out. I believe MSI also makes compact optical drives. Good luck.

I regard the V-series inwins as the best of the bunch. The v523 and v508 have the best bezels for airflow, stout construction, and nice overall features and appearance. the v508 is currently hard to find, as is the v523 in beige. Logicalplus has one or the other, I'm not sure they realize there's a slight difference beyond color.

There's also a compucase model available from several vendors, Casedepot for example. I haven't worked with that particular model, but compucase usually makes good stuff. Wouldn't appear to be the best in terms of airflow.

You could go with the enlight recommended above, provided you use the right optical drive as specified. They don't really breathe worth a damn unless you open up the holes in the front bezel, however... and there's no rear fan mount, very important with the heat output from modern systems...
