I havent tried too many classes yet but I will go on ahead and vouch for Necromancer and Shadowknight as both being fun and powerful classes.
/agree on Necromancers. My main is an 80 Necromancer which I solo'd most of my way. Extremely powerful and fun to play.
Wait WHAT?!?!
They finally fixed the SK in EQ2? Man, I really wanted to like EQ2, but when it came out unless you were a templar, guardian, or some sort of bard, no one wanted you in their group.
Paladin and SK tanking ability was a complete joke, and using one for the MT was a stupid. They weren't really any good for off tanking. A good monk or high dodging thief class made for a better off tank. As for extra damage, there was better classes. I know. I was an SK originally when it came out and got to 44, but then quit a month later or so. It was just too frustrating sitting around for HOURS because of the forced grouping crap and not being one of the "in" classes.
The problem is that EQ2 tried to break the mold on the "holy trinity" combination when it was released, but it failed miserably. Maybe they fixed it by now, but I don't like throwing any more money to a product that came out failed liked that.
