Funny thing about FL is that for months at a time there is rain every day and torrential downpours on a regular basis. This is not a good combination with high powered RWD in South FL traffic at least. Maybe in other parts of FL it's not as bad. I'm glad I don't have my GTO anymore living down here. Rain is what took it out in NC and I'd have to get a beater if I had it down here.

RWD+ Eagle RSA's + Wet = Scary as fuu.

Cant wait till I get new tires man, these suck hard.

I test drove a Mazda 6/Jetta/Accord/Camry SE, and they all are quite peppy with decent footing around corners.

Also test drove Fusion/Sonata/Elantra and they are decent sedans, but aren't that peppy nor have great cornering ability.

I would love to test drive a Chrysler 300C & Hyundai Azera/Genesis.

2 weeks ago I set out to buy a cheap on fuel commuter with a bit of spunk but set my heart on the 2008/2009 Sonata/Elantra due to the beautiful cabin/gauges/loaded options. However I ended up with a 2007 SE Camry (sport suspensions and bigger alloy rims, than standard CE/LE/LXE edition) at standard 268 Hp/248 lb/ft torque.

On the freeway I was able to take the Camry SE from 40 mph to 70 mph passing power in a few seconds. Not neck breaking acceleration but more than quick enough to pass any car near by and get your heart thumping. The D mode is a sleeper but S (Sport-shift) mode it quite fun because the gears only stay with thin your selected range, anywhere from 1-6 that let the engine rev to the upper RMP range before shifting and also great for engine braking for cornering combine with 50% more cornering agility from the sport suspension package make the car quite enjoyable to drive. IMHO, Camry SE is a sheep skin sleeper that have well more than enough spunk to leave Civic Si/Mazda6-3/Accord in the dust.

Lexus IS300 is a very fun car to drive, tight suspension, RWD, nice I6 and Toyota reliability. I have also driven bmw e46 sedans, and G35 sedans and I think the IS300 was the most fun to drive. Its just a little smaller.

At about the $10k for earlier models... Definitley my next car.

Another vote for Legacy ..... Given the distance of your commute, you might want to consider the NA instead of turbo for the improvement in gas millage, but, you need to determine how much extra you're willing to spend to have better acceleration.

As my name here might suggest, I'm a nissan nut (own a 95 240SX and a 90 300ZX Twin Turbo) but a few weeks ago I saw a 2005 Legacy GT for a pretty reasonable price locally. I took a look at it just out of curiosty and ended up picking it up after I test drove it and had my mechanic gave it the thumbs up. The power delivery in it is just so violent and downright fun. Handles extremely well for the type of car it is as well (only 3300 pounds, sartlingly light for an all wheel drive 4 door that seats 5 and has a decent trunk). The GPS nav system is garbage though.

Just wait till you get some mods on her.

And are you sure it's a 2005? They didn't introduce integrated navigation until 2006, and only on automatic Legacy GT's or standard on Spec.B models, IIRC.

Probably could have been swapped from an 06 tho.

Must have been a swap, there's quite a bit of mods on the car. VF46 turbo, a lot of suspension work and some other nice touches. I think I'm just going to swap in a boost and oil pressure gauge in the area where the nav is until i get a carpc together for in there.
