When you send a Western Union transfer, there are two forms; US and international. You also have to specify the expected payout location. If someone comes to our store and wants to receive a WU transfer expected to pay in Atlanta, we cannot do it; it has to say Gainesville (where we are). So..unless we're different than other WU locations or he knows someone who runs a WU place, he shouldn't be able to cash something if the expected payout is in Romania.

Can you ask if he can take an international money order overnighted to his place? That way he doesn't have to go to WU to get it, and the fee will probably be less.

I sent him this:

Danut,

I think I am going to send this money International Overnight Priority. It
is cheaper than Western Union and just as fast, it will be at your house
tomorrow morning and then you can ship out to me right away. I am going to
drop this off at FedEx in 1/2 hour and send the money to the address you
gave me before.

Thank you!

And his response:

I said I wanted Western Union. If I wanted FedEx, I would have said FedEx. What part don't you understand?

I SAID I WAS GOING TO PAY FOR THE WESTERN UNION FEE.

Go to the Western Union and send this money without $100 for the fee, or we don't have a deal.

Thank you for understanding,
Danut

Not such a pleasant fellow?! I did this b/c I was curious whether he really is in Romania or not, by that response it would seem not! Isn't it possible to check the ip address in the header for this kind of info?

LMAO!

Yes, post his E-mail header and someone should be able to figure out his IP.

Judging by his freak-out factor to me mailing him the money and by the suggestion of one member here that he may be using the Romanian address as a fake, it may be possible he is not even at that address.

Oh yeah, I think he really is in Romania.

Check out this site: IP Trace

And type in the ORIGINATING IP: 81.196.102.38

Interesting to see what comes up.

Anyways, I'm sure there are more resourceful people here, so I'll let them do THEIR sleuthing.

Just got another email from him.

Hello,

Have you changed the name on the receipt yet? Please do, and hurry. I
am worried about the money too.

Thank you. I am waiting for the new info email.

Regards,
Danut

And I sent him this email!

Danut,

Hello, I just checked with Western Union and I think I may be screwed. They said I have to contact the original person in Romania, Danut Mynocatee, or wait 30 days for the money to be refunded to me. Is there anyway you can change your name? Or maybe get a fake ID card in that name? I know you Romanians are pretty good at making stuff up. Let me know. Thanks for you help.
