Theres actually a part II to this, but its not as good as this one. Other posters have portrayed "Magic Mountain" as "Gangland". No wonder Six Flags wants to sell the whole park to developers for condos...

I've been to Kentucky Kingdom twice this year (2006), once just last week (Thursday, June 22), and previously in early June. I've also been to the park several times over the past ten years. Three weeks ago, for the first visit, I bought a season pass which is good for all Six Flags Parks, plus some coupons for freebies, for $70 each. Last week, I was shocked to see that they were offering "Kentucky Kingdom only" passes for the price of one day's admission of $39. I thought right away, "Oooo, this park must be hurting." The other thought that I had was, "can I get a rebate on my season pass" - turned out "no" was the answer to question #2.
Some things that I've thought about Kentucky Kingdom over the years....
1. It's a little trashy. The visit in early June this year, the trash cans were overflowing immediately in front of the park, right in front of the main offices. Nice welcome for people.
2. Why do we have to pay extra for such non-thrill rides as "the kids trampolines" for $5?
3. Why do the pools open a full hour after the park opens (park opens at 11 am Mon-Fri, 12 on Sat., not sure about Sun)? It's June, it's 90 degrees, you've already had to wait 30+ minutes in the sun (because there is NO shade at the entrance, just an obnoxious MC who teases the crowd about when the gates might or might now actually open - I wanted to grab the mike and ask the crowd, "Who will give me $20 to hurt this man?" - why would you have to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes after going through security (where they took my pocket knife with its' massive 2 1/2" blade) to get into the pool area? It's ridiculous that a park wouldn't open at 10 am, or earlier, in the middle of summer anyway... but to wait until noon to open the pool area is really stupid.
The only water that I could find for me, my six year old granddaughter, and my three year old grandson, was a sprinkler which happened to be watering the lawn - it was also watering the electrical box for the restrooms, probably not the smartest use of water, and probably not really what code enforcement would like to see. By the way... if you are at Kentucky Kingdom, and a member of your family gets electricuted because of the sprinkler watering the electric box - I make an excellent material witness.
