Riiight. First 3 paragraphs are lame. The rest is a good laugh. And that is a fairly accurate description of suburbs in toronto area.

Well I didn't read hte first half since it was talking about Frank Sinatra or something, but the parts about the cars are true. The whole blacked out headlights, muffler falling, dark tint, really loud bass, cut springs, etc...that's all true..and one drive in Toronto will show you all of that!

Amusing, to us normal people.

The most pathetic thing I've seen is a truck, painted neon green, lowered with some horn mounted on the hood and purple neon at the bottom. Could it get more pathetic than that?

Exactly.. This article is just horrendous. I can't believe anyone would publish something like this. The author is clearly "above" all activities such as photography which could potentnially render you 'un-cool'. Other things such as wearing a baseball cap backwards is clearly a threat to this persons life hence causing them to attack anyone who choses to be different. This whole article is just ghay.

And I can't believe someone would mod their car to the state where it can be legally considered as "visual pollution". But it happens and all the little idiots listening to "LiMp BiZkIt" think its "d0pe" and "phat". Morons....

The last paragraph is where it's all given away... "this isn't gallavanting old fartism..." that's the entire point, it is gallavanting old fartism.

It's a bitter guy in his 40-50-60's wondering why he's not cool any more and finding someone to be his scape goat. The fact of the matter is, those kids are cool, and he's not (not that you'd neccessarily want to be that sort of cool, i know i don't). I'm sure he remebers being cool and how much fun it was at the time. Now where is he? wearing sweater vests and driving a plymouth voyager i'm sure. The simple truth is after 30-40 (it varys from person to person) unless youre a rockstar or a professional athlete, it's physically impossible to be cool anymore. Wich has alot of people up in arms. There still the same people, it's just cool that's changed. Cool is defined by teens, it's intrinsically linked to them and there generation and once it's lost, it can never be regained. People need to learn to move on, to be content in their middle aged comfort and security and leave being cool to the teens.

No matter how stupid you think fashions (clothes, cars, whatever) of today are, take a good look back at when you were a teen, and youre realize that you were just as stupid, but when it all boils down to it, cool.

What I don't understand are those people with raised trucks, but do not go off-roading. I mean they buy those oversized tires, raised suspension, towing equipment, grills, floodlights, but all for show?

Also, it is really annoying that they drive 65mph in the fast lane trying to show off that they are able to run over any other car on the road. You thought lowered cars are bad, try driving behind (or in front) of a raised F250.

Most of the cars I see that fit this writer's description are driven by Latino immigrants who want to "fix up" their cars and for many, tape on the headlights and cutting springs is all they can afford. Kids around here who modify their cars -- a lot of them -- do it tastefully for the most part, only buying quality and useful parts and no stickers
