-Already have a Freesync monitor
-Recently relinquished CF selling one of my 290s before Polaris launch
-Can sell my other 290 for ~160 making the total upgrade cost 280
-Looks like I would get about 30% more FPS at 1440p in most titles
-Predicting Vega performance which is 6 to 7 months out is difficult, I assume they'll have a part around the $400-450 range but I don't necessarily expect that model to be better than Fury X with the exception being amount of VRAM.
-I don't think the VRAM issue is that large at 1440p, with only 30% more frames than my current card I think in most situations the card runs out of steam before VRAM and I am not worried about Hyper modes.
-Currently using a 2500k, will upgrade once Zen releases to either 6700k, 6850k or Zen depending on prices and performance at that time.
Is this a fair price at $440 AR?
Option 2 would be to sell my brand new monitor (BenQ xl2730z which I love) at a loss and replace it with a Dell S27*** which is basically the Gsync equivalent and get a 1070 or 1080. However that option is going to be much more expensive and then I have to hope once again that I get a good monitor on the first purchase (no dead pixels, very little backlight bleed) which I honestly hate buying monitors because of the return policies on them and there is no Microcenter or Frys in my area.
Option 3 I was considering but is also the most expensive option. I can keep the BenQ AND buy the Dell then I have two 1440p 144hz async monitors one from each camp and I can buy any card I please switching which monitor is my primary based on the card I purchased that round. However, very difficult to justify that and it would likely eat into my CPU budget.
Option 1 - total cost to me $440-160=$280 for Fury X + 30% FPS
Option 2 - total cost to me $530+420-160-350=$440 for Dell monitor and 1070 + ~40% FPS? Also the added issue of selling a monitor and winning the monitor lottery
Option 3 - total cost to me $530+420-160=$810 for Dell monitor and 1070 + ~40 FPS. May delay upgrade of other rig parts or I may have to make compromises however I would now not be "locked" into a camp.
Option 4 - wait 6 to 7 months for Vega to release
Dear Nvidia, if you supported Freesync I would purchase one of your overpriced cards immediately.
