anyone actually know what she's saying when she does her nut and starts going off in some japanese sounding language?
Supposedly it's the Martian language. Really, it seems to be kinda warped Chinese mixed with made-up gibberish.

aha.

Zoidberg dressed as a sexy cop with assless hotpants is funny enough, but it's his innocent and unexpected response to it that makes it one of my favorite moments ever. "This one's like a summer guy!" It also works as a hysterical catchphrase for use in real life and a non-hateful slur towards gay people. Try it. Find a really flaming gay man and tell him he's "like a summer guy." He'll probably smack you on the shoulder and thank you.

AND THAT'S WHEN YOU HIT HIM

wait

People who think Family Guy is funnier just have a more blunt sense of humor. They need to be smacked in the face with it, they need to be told when to laugh. But the great thing about Futurama is you can laugh at anything, because you know what the writers were thinking when they added a certain joke, and you feel almost like the humor is personal to you. You know why it's funny. It's just on a slightly higher level. Not to say Family Guy isn't funny, I just like the brand of humor displayed in Futurama better. It doesn't get tiresome as quickly.

OMG BEST POST EVAR
There are so many references (and many obscure ones) in Family Guy it's not funny (the number, not the show). Hardly being blunt. If you don't know the reference, you probably won't even recognize the real joke.

Futurama was decent for a while, but quickly turned into almost every episode being rehashed "goofy character trait" jokes that weren't even done in unique ways.

By the way, the dog episode was gay. Way to be funny, Matt!

No.

It's a bit of Cantonese and some other things I think... the message board that I moderate, the biggest Futurama message board that I'm aware of, had a lot of people who managed to translate what she said. I, on the other hand, was one of the first viewers to start decrypting the alien messages in certain scenes. See, Futurama made up its own friggin' language, how cool is that? Once again I must express how Futurama goes beyond the humor.

More like you just don't get the Family Guy references. Yea. Did you pick up the North by North Quahog 401 episode? North by Northwest by Hitchcock? Hmm? What about the music when they abducted Lois? It's more like you don't laugh sometimes in Family Guy or you think it's random because you don't get it.

nope. i get it. but i find it too dumbed down in it's appeal to the lowest common denominator, the vastly childish, slapstick humour that most of it seems to rely on

That is only on the surface, to keep monkey entertained. Underneath is a box full of reference humor that is by far, the best of any show on television.

Futurama still rocks though. Why must one be king? I watch both.

You can speak when Futurama gets uncancelled.

The jokes in futurama are funny, but they're to be expected. Everything points to Bender being an alcoholic con artist robot, everything points to Fry being a lazy-ass bum... yadda yadda.... while you have sterotypes in Family Guy... no one expects the F***ing Kool-Aid man to bust through a court room wall or Optimus Prime to roll into temple and put on a yamaka.

Humor about real-life situations is funny. That's why people laugh at stand-up comics. Humor about situations not just blown out of proportion, but sent to pluto and back are even funnier.

That's why nobody really cares about the simpsons anymore.

Brannigan: "She's built like a steak-house, but she handles like a bistro!" *alert sounds* "She's out of control! You win again gravity!"

Couldn't find the quote, but this one from that ep struck me...

Bender - "I wonder if we can escape through this steam tunnel" *opens hatch*
Fry - "No good, it's full of steam!"

Morgan: Why is there yogurt in this hat?
Fry: I can explain that. It used to be milk, and well, time makes fools of us all.

Leela: 'Ok, if everyones finished being stupid'
Fry: 'I had more, but go on'

Fry: 'Hey, you have no right to criticize the 20th century! We gave the world the light bulb, the steam boat and the cotton gin.'

Fry: It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?

Fry: Hey, my girlfriend had one of those. Actually, it wasnt hers it was her Dad's. And actually she wasn't my girlfriend, she just lived next door and never closed the curtains

I agree with this thread.

Fry: "Don't you worry about Planet Express, let me worry about blank."

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

And that link above.....you people.....quit linking to that....soooo....very....sad. :-(

Greatest Endings Ever for any series:
1) Showing Leela growing up, and her parents taking care of her without her knowing. (Song: Pizzicato Five - Baby Love Child)
2) Showing what Fry did to make Leela love him. (Song: Harlem Globetrotters Theme, done real slowly)
3) The dog, waiting for Fry to come back.
4) Fry finding out that it was his nephew that was named in honor of him, not his brother taking credit for him. (Song: Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me))

Such a great show!

futurama is indeed better
because every character is great except maybe leila

peter griffin is just a homer simpson clone

the only character i like is the dog and quagmire

stewie is so-so

they can't compete with fry , bender, zoidberg, and the professor

i like hermes and and the asian chick too to a lesser extent

edit: family guy half of the funniness is from the shock value

that is why they aren't as funny the second / third time around

like the kool-aid guy breaking through the wall and going oh yeah

the first time i saw that it was the funniest thing ever but by the third or 4th time it wasn't

i still love hearing the jokes on Futurama
