Obscure quantum physics reference > obscure pop culture reference.
I prefer Futurama to Family Guy because I find Futurama wittier and more subtle. Of course, I guess I miss a lot of the pop culture references in Family Guy, but that doesn't change the fact that many of the (more obvious) jokes feel like they're lifted from the Simpsons. Doesn't usually try to get as serious as Futurama often did, though.
Edit: Of course, that's not to say that they aren't both awesome. Don't get me wrong.
