So today on my way into work I quickly hit Dunkin Donuts for some coffee and went to work in a hurry so i wouldnt end up being late.

So I get to work, and I can't find my phone. I dismiss it as nothing as I left in a hurry this morning and probably forgot it. This all happened around 10:55am.

So around 2:00pm one of my co-workers is on his way into work, stops at the burger king up the street to grab lunch and called my cell to see if I wanted anything. Apparently the people at Dunkin Donuts answered and said something along the lines of "Hello, the person you're trying to call left their phone here" and obviously if they picked up then the phone was working just fine.

So my co-worker drives down to Dunkin's for me and picks it up, I hadn't even realized I left it somewhere.

So he walks in and hands it to me, I open it up and the screen on my 2 week old razr is cracked in half and only the upper left hand corner of the screen displays anything. I flip it over (not realizing it was cracked yet) and take the battery out thinking it was a software bug and just needed to be restarted. When taking the backplate off I noticed a LOT of dents that were NOT there this morning.

I swear to god it looks like someone was dancing on the fvcking thing. I walked in there with my phone in MINT condition, it's there for a little over 3hrs and it comes back looking like someone had run it the fvck over!

So after I got out of work today I went back to Dunkin's and talked to the asst. manager. I explain the fact that I had left my phone on the counter (which I know I did, realized later that I walked in with it in my hand) and it came back to me all fvcked the hell up. He then proceeded to say that all they do is hold onto the stuff until the person comes back for it. I told him that this thing was looking brand new when I came in and he accused ME of breaking the screen and said if I didn't have any proof that it was working when I came in that he couldnt do anything about it.

WTF!!!

I really wonder how it got broken, if someone answered a call while it was there they either A) had to know exactly which key to press to answer the call, or B) it was working just fine. I dont have "open to answer" enabled, and you always have to press "accept" to take a call.

Tomorrow I'm gunna go back and chew out the day manager there and see if I can get a straight answer (keep in mind I never once raised my voice when talking to the asst., no need for that).

I know it was my fault for leaving it there, but how in the living sam fvcking hill does my phone get fvcked retarded in a 3 hour period of time?!

I'm not expecting them to do anything there or get anywhere with them, most of them don't even speak fvcking english.. I just want to bother them at this point for all the trouble they've caused me.

After a long freakin post.. Anyone have any idea as to how I can get this taken care of?

Of course, I dont have phone insurance because that's usually a waste of money.

Let's see if I have this right.
1. You lost your phone at DD.
2. You don't know if you dropped in in the parking lot and 42 people drove over it.
3. It's DD's fault.

That about it?

Sorry, I forgot to be a vile little puss pocket like you. WTF! Fvcking A!

There's such a thing as phone insurance? Huh.

99% of the people who reply to this thread will tell you to stop whining because leaving the phone there made any damage that occurred to it afterwards your fault. And really, they're right - it's not like the people Dunkin Donuts intentionally started to bash up your phone for the hell of it. Maybe it fell and stuff before it got noticed or something.

Forget about it and learn from it. You have absolutely no case to make from this. As Oldsmobat said, you could have just dropped it yourself.

I KNOW for a fact that I walked in with it in my hand. I've been thinking about it all day. Put it down on the counter to pay the person, grabbed my coffee and donut and walked right out.

Normally I wouldnt complain, I'd say it was my fault and such, but I've been going to this dunkin donuts for months now and the people there are careless in there work. This place is not very well maintained, and I wouldnt put it past them if they did find it and then someone accidently stepped on it or dropped something on it or something like that. I'm not saying someone intentionally started stomping on it, I'm saying I believe the carelessness of the staff at that place most likely contributed to the condition my phone is in.

Tomorrow I plan on going in there and asking them where the phone was found.. sure, its possible a customer did something to it but I think a $250 phone is worth at least a little investigating.

And yes, there's such thing as phone insurance. Cingular offers it for something like $5/mo, and they will replace a phone no questions asked. I've never had a problem with losing or breaking a phone in the past, so I just decided it was a waste of money.

When is the last time you dropped your phone or slid it off a table and had major damage done? The case is aluminum (i think) and to crack the screen clear in half someone must have put weight on it.

I never said THEY should have made sure I had my phone. I work in a store across the street and people leave phones around ALL the time, and never ONCE have we had a complaint about the condition it was returned in.

How do you know a _customer_ didn't bash up the phone?

Sorry, you still have no case. DD is not obligated to protect your lost property from customers.

I understand why you are upset, but you have to understand that no one had the duty to ensure nothing happened to your phone. You don't even know what happened to it.

Did the customer after you pick it up, take it out to the parking lot, and throw it away only to have another customer turn it back in? Unlikely, but possible. The staff intentionally messing with your phone is also unlikely, but possible. Who knows what happened?

This is one of those times when you just let it go. Can't you see they can't be held responsible? It's not going to solve anything to freak out on the manager. You don't know what happened so you can't expect to hold them responsible.

I seriously doubt they broke the phone out of spite. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out which key to hit to accept the call.

So what if the employee's dropped it or knocked it off a counter? It's your fault for leaving the phone there. If I had a $250 phone I know I sure as hell wouldn't leave it anywhere.

I've never lost my phone, and I've always had the el cheapo free with your plan types. I always take care of important things, expecially if they're crazy expensive.

More or less this is just an angry rant and a nice ending to them constantly forgetting the sugar in my coffee..

Time to try a different dunkin donuts I guess.

For all you (or the manager) know either you or the customer who entered right after you knocked it off the counter on the customer side. Then the next 10 customers played kickball with it until an employee later found it while sweeping the floors.

In other words, let it go. They aren't going to compensate you.

Go right down there and scream at everyone, it wasn't their fault, but you're out $250 and SOMEONE has to be punished.
Then enjoy your coffee with extra spit the next time you go in.
