I'm not saying someone intentionally started stomping on it, I'm saying I believe the carelessness of the staff at that place most likely contributed to the condition my phone is in.

Why would you keep going back there in the first place? If i went to a place was run poorly, and the employees are complete idiots, i'd go somewhere else.

Whcih is exactly why im not going back there. There's another dunkin's about 3 mins out of my way, and seeing the condition my phone is in, is worth the lost time.

Not to mention, I want my damn sugar in my coffee! How hard is it to understand "cream AND sugar?!"

and i dont want to hear any sexual jokes either.

buy phone insurance now, wait two weeks, file claim, get new phone?

im pretty sure you can just add the phone insurance to your acct online, so they're never able to verify you're phone is broken ATM. deal with a crappy beat up phone for two weeks. lose out on $5 for a months insurance. get new razr.?

You lost your phone, they don't really have a responsiblility to make sure it's safe and in good condition for you.

My point was if it was that bad to begin with, you never should have lost your phone, because you never should have gone back into that particular DD.

Sadly, no. Nor that exodus454 admitted to us all that he's planning to carry out this fraud.

It's a good thing I never applied to become Vengeful Mod.

After the first couple of posts i kind of figured it would lead to exactly what he is planning on doing. (and no, i didn't PM him with the suggestion)

Tomorrow I plan on going in there and asking them where the phone was found.. sure, its possible a customer did something to it but I think a $250 phone is worth at least a little investigating.

And yes, there's such thing as phone insurance. Cingular offers it for something like $5/mo, and they will replace a phone no questions asked. I've never had a problem with losing or breaking a phone in the past, so I just decided it was a waste of money.

you couldnt remember that u had t in your hands 10 minutes earlier, but u KNOW you remember perfectly 5 hours later?

So today on my way into work I quickly hit Dunkin Donuts for some coffee and went to work in a hurry so i wouldnt end up being late.

So I get to work, and I can't find my phone. I dismiss it as nothing as I left in a hurry this morning and probably forgot it. This all happened around 10:55am.

So around 2:00pm one of my co-workers is on his way into work, stops at the burger king up the street to grab lunch and called my cell to see if I wanted anything. Apparently the people at Dunkin Donuts answered and said something along the lines of "Hello, the person you're trying to call left their phone here" and obviously if they picked up then the phone was working just fine.

So my co-worker drives down to Dunkin's for me and picks it up, I hadn't even realized I left it somewhere.

So he walks in and hands it to me, I open it up and the screen on my 2 week old razr is cracked in half and only the upper left hand corner of the screen displays anything. I flip it over (not realizing it was cracked yet) and take the battery out thinking it was a software bug and just needed to be restarted. When taking the backplate off I noticed a LOT of dents that were NOT there this morning.

I swear to god it looks like someone was dancing on the fvcking thing. I walked in there with my phone in MINT condition, it's there for a little over 3hrs and it comes back looking like someone had run it the fvck over!

So after I got out of work today I went back to Dunkin's and talked to the asst. manager. I explain the fact that I had left my phone on the counter (which I know I did, realized later that I walked in with it in my hand) and it came back to me all fvcked the hell up. He then proceeded to say that all they do is hold onto the stuff until the person comes back for it. I told him that this thing was looking brand new when I came in and he accused ME of breaking the screen and said if I didn't have any proof that it was working when I came in that he couldnt do anything about it.

WTF!!!

I really wonder how it got broken, if someone answered a call while it was there they either A) had to know exactly which key to press to answer the call, or B) it was working just fine. I dont have "open to answer" enabled, and you always have to press "accept" to take a call.

Tomorrow I'm gunna go back and chew out the day manager there and see if I can get a straight answer (keep in mind I never once raised my voice when talking to the asst., no need for that).

I know it was my fault for leaving it there, but how in the living sam fvcking hill does my phone get fvcked retarded in a 3 hour period of time?!

I'm not expecting them to do anything there or get anywhere with them, most of them don't even speak fvcking english.. I just want to bother them at this point for all the trouble they've caused me.

After a long freakin post.. Anyone have any idea as to how I can get this taken care of?

Of course, I dont have phone insurance because that's usually a waste of money.

First problem was you had someone get it for you. If it was in mint condition as you say it had to go through dunkin donuts and your coworker, the possibility exists that the coworker may have dropped it on accident, etc. Plus, I agree with the manager, you'd have to prove it was in mint condition when you brought it into the store as well. Otherwise you'd have people walking in with busted phones and someone saying "OMG I left my phone here and you guys jacked it, pay me now!" If you were there with someone other than family and friends who could vouch for you you'd have more ground. But, since your friend picked it up for you they could say he did it and they could be right.

Bottom Line, life lesson learned. You're going to have to get a new phone and they aren't going to pay you.

AFA insurance, you'd think the cell provider would make you bring the phone in to verify it because they realise dishonest people are going to try and rip them off.

RAZR owners... sheesh!

Just be glad you got it back at all. Now buy a new one, like you would have done if you never got the broken one back.

Okay, I'm not sure why no one has thought of this, but does your phone use a SIM CARD? If so, check the s/n of the broken phone with the box/paperwork you have. The thing about SIM cards is that you can take a sim card, put it in a different device, and "transport" your account. Perhaps, and this is a long shot, someone at the store took your brand new phone and swapped sim cards so you'd have the busted one.

Worth a shot?
