Do people not know how to use charcoal anymore?! I'm grill shopping and all the charcoal grills are crap compared to the sexy high end gas grills.

ALL I WANT IS A NICE GRILL THAT'S NOT GAS, IS THAT TOO HARD TO ASK!?! *rant*

I'll probably end up purchasing this since the price is right. What do you think? ATK/CI gave it a thumbs up in their 2002 charcoal grill review

Charcoal rocks
When I get around to doing my patio, it's gonna have a countertop with a charcoal grill built into it. Sounds like a good excuse to learn to weld!
Hope the bottom doesn't fall out of my old KMart special in the mean time.

I'm not a fan of meat cooked on a charcoal grill but many people tell me I'm in the minority

Personally, I like the convenience of having a natural gas line that runs out to my grill. No need to refill the propane, or constantly replace the charcoal...

You are in luck my man. I just got myself an awesome unit.
Awesome BBQ from Lowes.

Great stuff. Cast iron grids. Possible to smoke and bbq. There is even a an add-on smoker if you want.
I've used it twice now and made the best T-bones in my life.

I've been thinking about running a blower into it as well so it can double as a forge, or cook a steak in 5 seconds

You know you walked into this, but....

GAS owns charcoal for day to day grilling.

Gas gets hot faster and cools down faster when done

Gas does not cost as much as charcoal does and there is no worry about where to store the charcoal and/or lighter fluid/newspaper lighting tool

Gas is more convenient when I want to grill a hotdog or a bratwurst than lighting up charcoal and waiting 20 mins for it to get hot.

I find that anything I cook over charcoal tastes a whole lot better than anything I cook over gas.

To me anything cooked over charcoal tastes like charcoal instead of how the meat was intended to be flavored

Yaotl, many of us don't have mesquite trees in our yards. I don't think steak cooked over pine would taste all that good.

weber is nice.

You also might want to go to an outdoor shop. They have some really nice charcoal grills (not the wussy brickiquettes...real charcoal)

And for the record many foods taste better when cooked with gas when tastes tests were conducted. You just have to know how to cook. I spent over 1000 bucks on my grill and it is the best money I've ever spent.

I prefer the hint of charcoal. It's no different than dipping your steak in some sort of steak sauce as you're eating it. Of course marinating meat alters the flavor as well.
