Maybe, but the professor doesn't have to be a douche, as he is.

well, all of those "absences" piled up and now i failed the class due to attendance. now, i've got to pay to take the class all over again even though i was in the class.

i spoke with the professor about my situation. he told me to talk to the dean of student admissions about it. the dean of admissions told me it wasn't up to him and that it was up to the professor. he'd ok whatever decision the professor made. so, i went back to the professor and he said he's happy with his policy and feels no need to change his decision.

i asked if i got a note from my psychiatrist explaining the side effects of my drug and why i'm taking the dosage that i am after years of trial and error. he said it isn't up to him to interpret side effects of medication.

i kinda feel like i'm going to throw up right now.

Thats the kinda ****** where I'd retaliate... throw a brick at his car... accidentally knock him down a flight of stairs.... something to inflict pain....

Or, you know, maybe just set your alarm 3 minutes earlier! But hey, throwing a brick at his car is probably just as productive .

A professor who takes attendance? That's retarded. It's university... it's not his job to babysit and make everybody show up.

But I feel for you man Sorry dude.

Yeah I failed a course for non-attendance once. Missed most of the classes, had B grades on the work. He requried 50% attendance....

Next year I took the course and attended two lectures above the 50% mark and missed most of the last month. Got an A.

It sucks you have this problem but you need to adjust. What happens in X number of years when you start working full time and your constantly late? They would can you in a second and find someone else who is more reliable.

Take classes that are later in the day?

A typical college alarm only has 3 settings. "Slightly Late", "Really Late", and "Too Hungover for Class"

Your meds making you sleepy and making it difficult for you to get up in the morning is NOT an excuse for being late. Period. Your Prof is right; it's not his job to determine the side effects of your meds. That's YOUR JOB, buddy.

Your meds, right. Can't be your fault. Nobody's personally responsible for anything anymore.

How about this: If your class starts at 7:20, just tell yourself it starts at 7:00. Then if you're 2 minutes late, you'll really be 18 minutes early.

If my employees were habitually late for work or meetings, I'd fire them.

Take it as a life lesson and do better next time. The world's tough, kiddo. You gotta be tougher.

Exactly
I had some classes I showed up for once in a blue moon. Studied, knew the materials got my A/B and everyone was happy. Guess it could entirely depend on college and major though.

****** that ... his professor is just a power tripping SOB... there's no need to be an ass like that... in real life you're not going to get in any trouble for showing up for work 3 minutes late.

That arrogant bastard needs to be taught a lesson... I would go apeshit on him like you couldn't imagine... I would start digging for ways to get his ass canned...

How is that anal? He had a reponsibility and failed.

Guess what? I have 2 kids. They both sleep like crap which means I sleep like crap every night for the last 5 years. You know how many times I've been late for work? 2 times. Both times the bus broke down on the way to work.

Its his reponsibility to make it to class. If he can adjust his schedule accordingly, and he is REQUIRED to be there at XYZ time and he fails to make it there by then, its HIS fault.

actually yes, yes you would... for MOST jobs you would be in trouble if it happened everyday.

The professor's policy was in place the entire length of the class. The OP JUST decideds to bring it to the attention of his professor that his medication "supposedly" makes him 2-3 minutes late every single day.

If anyone is in the wrong, it's the OP before it's the Professor.

Also, good luck sacrificing Med School to try to get revenge on a single professor. I'm sure it would definitely be worth it.

Oh you are so full of horse donkey... in the real world you wouldn't fire anyone who shows up within 3 minutes of the meeting time... you know that... so stop being such a poser.

A good professor knows that there is know way in hell that he can issue a test that will "prove" that you experienced and learned all he had to offer is his class. Therefore, attendence is about the best he can do to at least assure you were "there."

No. You don't hate anal people like me.

The truth is, you can't stand to admit that you're a slacking POS that probably wears Birkenstocks every day and hasn't shaved in two weeks b/c "it's just too much trouble to put on socks and shave every day!" You probably feel that "schedules" are for "people that work for The Man" and you can't be bothered being held accountable for your own actions.

Grow up. The real world isn't going away and will be here when you pull your head out of your ass. The world operates on a CLOCK; that's why we have so many diff time zones. Life doesn't stop b/c you're on meds, or hungover or "not feeling particularly social today."

And I hate lazy, apathetic, and insiduous people like you that will search for any possible means of alleviating themselves of responsibility for their own actions, even if it takes claiming the death of a family member, begging their shrink for a doctor's note, or hell, lopping off an arm and claiming disability status.

fvcking scrubs.

Hey OP was stupid too...

1) he shoulda dropped the class as soon as he realized his prof was a douchebag.

2) he should NOT have made excuses.. he should have stood on his performance in the class...

However... the Professor is still an idiot, arrogant asshole, who needs to be kicked in the teeth repeatedly.

We'll see what you say when you are in the emergency room needing surgery to save your life, and every moment is critical and the doctors show up 3 mintues late.

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, I feel that if you can pass the exams then that's that.

On the other hand, why take a class scheduled at 7:20 if you know you can't make it? Why not take a later one?

Also, there's the point that others have brought up regarding 7:22 vs. 7:20. No medication is breaking you by 2 minutes.

Hmm. I need to think this over before I judge you. I'll be back.
