What you don't do is scream in the middle of a speech someone is giving to the entire nation. Its rude, disrespectful and arrogant. No one turned on the TV to listen to small time congressmen. Go on the cable shows afterward if you want to give your opinion.

I didn't say he was horrible. I said it doesn't make you a good leader or President.. There are plenty of things I think GWB did right, and plenty he screwed up on. But as Obama is quickly finding out - being President isn't the easiest thing to do.. the buck stops with him now. Its put up or shut up. So far he hasn't put up.

There's no shortage of bombastic Reps. and Sens. willing to go after the other party. Turn on C-span after votes are finished and you'll likely find a Ted Poe, Keith Ellison, Louis Gohmert, or Michelle Bachmann, talking away, into the camera.

They may say heroic things (depending on your POV), but I'm not sure that you can say they're particularly effective. I doubt they've shifted the national debate much...

As for Joe Wilson, he displayed his bombast at the wrong time. He may still be a hero, but he'd be a dumb one.

For anyone interested in the facts:

Republicans did NOT ask for an apology for Grayson stating the above. Reps, and specifically Tom Price drafted a resolution of disapproval (a little overboard IMO)asking for an apology because Grayson said, verbatim:

"the Republicans want you to die quickly"

Grayson then went on to call the situation of Americans dying a "holocaust" and grayson later backed off, saying he would not repeat the holocaust statement. While it probably wasn't the best choice of words, the holocaust statement I give him a pass on since he's jewish.

On the one hand, Democrats have been concerned that the bitter tone of debates could lead to attacks. On the other hand, they only seem to be praising comments like this. I agree that the dems need a bulldog, and that most dems are limp wristed. But this guy might be the wrong choice.

I don't think Grayson will shoot to superstardom like Joe Wilson did because of Grayson's associations with Ron Paul, 9/11 truthers etc., but kudos to Grayson for trying. Just like Ron Paul and Bush, he likes to stick to his guns regardless of what others think. And that's a trait we need to see more of in the Democratic party. Too many dems lick their finger and check the direction of the wind before deciding what to say.

I don't see how he said anything great.. 45,000 Americans die every year because they don't have health insurance? How many die because they didn't wear seatbelts? How many die of the flu?

IMO, all he did was play the 'us vs them' card.. like Democrats and Republicans aren't jointly responsible for the awful fiscal situation.
