An honest person that knows that sometimes sh!t happens to people. For all you know it could have been a down payment on a car or someones rent or mortgage money.

If I see a wad of cash laying on the ground of nowhere, I will pick it up and it is mine!

what kind of dummy uses cash instead of certified check?

in all seriousness - I can't see how somebody could lay claim to cash unless they had the serial numbers. Its the age old addage - "Hey! I found 100 buck!"

"thanks for finding it for me...I lost 100 bucks, I'll take that back now"

Wallet with cash, envelope with address/handwriting...anything that can be identified it gets turned in. Just a wed of cash...I'm keeping it. Unless it was at my place of employment and I could somewhat trust the claimer.

Yup.

Sorry, but unless it's in a wallet it's mine. Even if it's $10,000. No, make that especially if it was $10,000$.

It's nice that you have such a narrow view of the world...you should really get out more and take a look around.

Many people do not have/wantor cannot get bank accounts.

To help you further....perhaps the person could come into the police station and ask for 'a paperclipped stack of cash equalling $500 for my rent lost somewhere near the county library'.

see that wasn't hard...take the blinders off.

on the weekend we were in wal-mart. i was buying tennis balls for tennis and my son found a $20 bill on one of the shelves located near spotlights.

what caused him to look in the section containing spotlights is beyond me.

we let him keep it.

$20 is a big deal to a 9 year old.

there was no one around. what were we to do? go about the store asking who lost $20? yeah, right..

he bought a street shinney hockey ball, stick and a football and still had $5 to spare.

And if it's cash, you would have legal standing to keep it.

My daughter had dropped some cash at a local walmart. It was a small town. She had wanted to carry it and I told her she would lose it. But lo and behold we went to the customer service and they said someone had turned in the cash. We described what she lost and she got her money back. Of course this is in a town where you keep your car doors locked otherwise the neighbors fill up your car with vegetables from their garden.

My brother and I found $750 once in an old apt we lived at. It was blowing across the lawn we gathered it up and took it to the police. They gave it back to us two weeks later because nobody claimed it. It was probably someones rent $750 was the going rate back then.

My brother and I spent it on so much junk food and videos games that summer we were ill! We were 10 and 12 at the time.

I found $50 once.

Stood around for a hour waiting for someone to come looking for it.

Became mine after that!

Hmmm last time I left my sunglasses on my desk at schol, and I forgot to get them. Later I went back to get them, someone already took them. Then later, in my next class, I saw this guy wearing my glasses. I asked for them back, and that guy was, too bad I found it, they're mine now!
Then that bastard was like, I'll box you for them.
Being a week away from graduation, I just let him have it.

This is why "finders keepers" is bad practice. It's a selfish thing, because what you found did actually belong to someone, and that someone might need it, or want it. You have no moral right to it (however, since it's morality, it's moot, right? ).

This law, though, blows. This is just finders keepers with The Man.
