G.I. Joe *SPOILERS*

I did a quick search and didnt find anything.

I saw G.I. Joe last night and for the most part is was somewhat entertaining but I was pretty disappointed with how many easy outs they left for the Joes;

SPOILERS BELOW































First easy out; Cobra has his missiles setup and ready to fire. He is telling duke his plans and mentions that the missiles, once they reach their cruising speed of mach 5 will be traveling faster than anything the Joes have...BUT...there just so happens to be a jet that can travel faster than mach 5 conveniently located at the entrance to Cobras base where the Joes show up.

Second; Duke is captured and as arrived at cobras base. Before they go underground he hits someone, grabs the case with the warheads and with one simple push of a button he turns the locater back on. First off, how did they not notice that he turned the locater back on? and second why did cobra not pull the locater completely out of the case when they stole it?

There were a few more but I cant remember them right now. Needless to say, they made it too easy for the Joes to win. I enjoyed it but it wasnt worth the $10.50, I would have rather waited a week and used my $6 silver passes.

I wasnt excited when I first saw the previews. Care even less now that its out.
What I need to do is find an Imax theater thats still running Star Trek.

Just from the previews I ranked it as a maybe when it's on DVD movie... Special Effects look awful. Especially the "Super Suits" doing gymnastics down the road.

The review from io9 actually makes me want to go see this. Sounds like it's campy/smart enough to know its based on toys, yet still bay-splosiony enough for a mindless action flick

Yes! And the cool thing is that it isn't just stupid. If you know G.I.Joe, then you'll like the movie. The explosions aren't ridiculously over the top, it's not annoyingly loud, the action isn't so fucking zoomed in you don't know what the hell is going on, etc. It's GREAT.

You get the idea. The guy is an effect schlockster. The Mummy worked because it was fairly fresh for its time (this was before everything was a remake or a sequel) and had some decent entertainment value. Ever since then, everything he's ever done has been shit.

Terrible CG, but I found it more enjoyable than Transformers 2. Its basically non-stop action, and in some ways a giant commercial for all the new toys Hasbro probably has lined up to release.
