G.Skill 4GB Kit DDR2 800

Thinking of purchasing a 4GB kit from G.Skill to future proof myself in memory upgrades... Is anyone currently using this memory and how is it treating you? I've read mix reviews on NewEgg, thought I'd ask the members of AnandTech.

Goddamn i just bought a 2x2 pair of Mushkin for $200+

It's good for a 2x2 kit; don't expect amazing overclocks, but you could likely hit DDR2-1000 speeds depending on luck.

Ram prices are incredible now, I couldn't have imagined 2-3yrs ago that you would be able to get 2gb sticks for less than $50

I have two of the originally mentioned G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) kits. Another great deal, if you don't mind a small rebate, is A-Data 4GB (2x2GB) for $99.99 after $30 rebate.

Running 4 x 2GB of the G.Skill DDR2 800 and no complaints so far! Actually I like them a lot more than the various 4 x 1GB kits I ran over the last year, mainly because they run MUCh cooler at 1.9V compared to 2.1-2.2 with the Crucial and Buffalo sticks I ran previously.

Unless you're running FSB speeds higher than 400MHz, you shouldn't worry too much about "faster" RAM kits and go with any of the above mentioned 2x2GB DDR2 800 kits, especially if you're looking to run 4GB+.

I'm seriously considering getting this set.

I did some checking and this is what I came up with...

Micron D9HNL (HQ-3) 6-layer PCB


That is just pure sweetness.

The similar 1000 kit that's going for $130 uses Powerchip chips. These 800s with Micron might be able to do 1000 anyway, or pretty close, even given the density of these chips.
