G. SKILL FALCON SSD's "Mis-Reporting" Buffer Size ?

One Of My Gaming Buddies bought Two G. Skill Falcon SSD Drives. (FM-25S2S-64GBF1 64 GB)

The Product Page shows a 64 MB Cache.

But there seems to be a bigger issue, and I was wondering if others had reported similar ??

The Cache on these drives are being seen as only 32 MB...

The drives don't seem to perform up to par either...

I'm not sure if G.Skill is trying to pull a fast one, or if the Software is not reading correctly...

I guess that this is one more reason to never buy anything except Intel....

Hope that there is someone here that has had any feedback would be Excellent...

Tell your friend to stop worrying.

All Indilinx-based MLC SSDs (Supertalent, Gskill, OCZ, etc...) have 64MB of onboard cache.

The programs used to read the buffer info are just misreporting it.

Don't the OCZ Vertex Agility drives have less cache?

My own Vertex 120gb is only reporting ">=32bg" in Crystaldiskinfo. I'm sure your friend got the cache he/she paid for.

Unfortunately, we do not pull fast ones. The current hard drive testing/benchmark programs will only show up to 32MB cache. This has been a common misconception, but if you look at the chip in your SSD and ask the original IC chip manufacturer, they will tell you it is indeed 64MB. Hopefully there will be a program released soon that will properly report all new high performance SSD drives. No,, I'm open minded If they can slap down those kind of numbers I'll buy them if they improve their Warranty.....
