G-Sync and fullscreen video problems

Hey folks,

So I've got a GTX 770 and an Acer XB270HU. I absolutely love it for gaming - it's a huge improvement over vsync.

However, it has issues when playing fullscreen video. I know this is related to gsync because it's only enabled when you go fullscreen. The issue is that video becomes extremely stuttery / choppy, with an inconsistent frame rate. This happens with any fullscreen app - things like VLC, MPC-HC, and native Metro apps like Netflix and Hulu are all affected.

Turning gsync off and running a fixed 120hz makes everything buttery smooth... but obviously I don't want to do that

Anyone else seen this issue? It must be a driver setting / limitation.

I've seen the issue on my system, msi gtx970 and the same monitor you have. Its quite annoying. I'm not aware of any fix for it, but its definately related to g-sync. I wish g-sync could be enabled only for certain apps by profile or something.

I suppose it could also be an issue with the monitor but i'm thinking its likely a g-sync thing.

Two things that usually fix this... go to your nvidia control panel and for your global 3D settings make sure adaptive sync is enabled as well as limiting pre-rendered frames to 1. Then go to your G-sync menu on your left and uncheck the g-sync in windowed mode if you're using fullscreen, or check it if your game uses windowed. That usually fixes any stuttering for me.

From threads where user of both Gsync and Freesync had problems with picture one of problems was also DP cable.Quality of cables that come with monitors is pretty poor.Check those threads for more info.
