Hi,
In the middle of a full reinstall of my computer. I have a sound card PCI midrange, when driver is installed still no listing under sound devices and therefore no sound into my headset? My motherboard though is relatively new a budget board but Im interesting in using the onboard soundchip to compare sound quality.

What steps do I need to take apart from disabling the card in device manager. Its just Ive done that but still no sound into headset. No speakers. Lastly I get this error ' Error Loading Streamci + Streamci dll...The specified module could not be found, and the Realtek software screen disapears when I try to click the demo function?

What is the A-Z to check in this scenario to ensure sound settings are correct?

Enable the built-in soundcard in your bios menu and install the drivers in the OS. Then install your pci soundcard and install the drivers for that.

Use the drivers from the gigabyte site: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3485#ov

It seems you may have a conflict with the steam client.

A lot of boards do not permit two audio devices to co-exist, by offering only two options for the onboard audio in BIOS: Disable and AUTO (instead of enable)

With BIOS set to AUTO, the onboard sound likely will be disabled when another audio device is present.

Hi,
Well thank you people for the reply. Im still not clear, it seems a multiplicity of issues have hit me over the past 24hrs and my primary is now obliterated.

Now Im up using my last resort backup. Still with your advisory read I tried to implement but I dont see the actual settings you advise to change In my BIOS. I have two Yellow question marks in my devicemanager. This Im led to believe is a confilct with an installed device ,....fair to say its audio related.
Keep in mind that the main pop up error is .....Error Loading streamci and streamci dll ???

The net does not have a quick solution to this error message but payware programes do shout that they can solve all????

If you gurus are willing ( time permitting ) Id like to go the whole nine yards to solve this streamci dll issue...for free if at all possible?

Lasly I now have my soundcard installed, plus the current driver , still no audio? All efforts should be centered on the Error Loading streamci + dll .

What OS? Steam might spit out an error because it cant decide which soundcard to use. Delete the drivers and whatever you can find related to the sound to start fresh. Leave audio on auto in the bios and install the newest drivers for it. Turn off PC and install the sound card. Install drivers.
You probably need to set which audio device you want to use for specific functions. ie: you cant pick both sound devices simutaneously to output windows desktop sound etc. Why do you want to use 2 soundcards?
