The real reason why WRX's have trouble from a roll is because of the wide-spaced gear ratios in its 5 speed, combined with some turbo lag. Otherwise, mine pulls clean and hard through 3rd and 4th gears with no "loss" at all. Hell, I feel like the power doesn't even really come on full until 3rd (but then I tend to baby the clutch and tranny).

I've seen more WRXs at the track than I care to mention and they're not that fast. About half the ones I see there run 15s, nothing incredible. At the track, celica GTSs, integra GSRs hang with the WRXs no problem.

I've seen a tuned one that hits low 15's at the track.
It was part of a IS300 meet that we had and got several people to go down there.
We all look to see how well the wrx did but it was rather disappointing.

When I drove them wrx felt faster, but that's probably because of the turbo.

but I'd never buy a G35. Not enough headroom for me at 6'3".

Still waiting on my STi.
There is a surprising amount of headroom and shouder room in the WRX.

yeah I remember the first time this season I went to the track, I saw a lot of WRXs and I was disappointed with the times they were running. I mean 15s is alright but it's just not really faster than the other imports at the track.

My friend has one, he ran it hard around the city for me and it pulls well, but it's not face distortingly fast.

They're so close, who cares? They both sweet cars, and I'd love to have either one of them. Unless you're talking STi....[drool]

If WRXs only run 15s then my 300M is just as fast .. heh ... and its a way bigger car.

You'll win if you do a race from lets say a 50 and up you'll pull easy.

WRX dont pull that hard from a roll.

The WRX drivers at your track suck is all I can say. My old car was a '98 GSR and my WRX spanks it up one side and down the other.

The wrx would only spank it from a dead stop, if it was from a roll, it would be much closer than you think.

err, have you ever sat in a WRX? OS is right, it spanks the GSR left and right, roll or dead.

ppl who have never sat in either should just stop replying with opinions

has he spanked anyone lately? i've gone against GSRs and some other 4 bangers in the Rex, usually finish with bus lengths. haven't seen a G35 around yet, oh well.

Have you taken both cars to the track and ran them both? Since you claim the WRX drivers at my track suck, what do you get?

At anyrate, I doubt the GSRs were stock. High reving cars like GTSs/GSRs benefit a lot from simple bolt ons like headers, intake, exhaust.

I'm not saying that GSRs and GTSs are significantly faster because they're not, I'm just saying all those cars are about the same league as the WRX.

No, it wouldn't. With its VTEC and lack of low-end torque, the GSR is just as bad from a roll as the WRX with its turbo lag.
I don't think you know much about the WRX. I don't brag much about street racing (and particularly not here) but one of my first "kills" in my WRX was actually on a 300M rolling from 55mph (which is an optimum start for 3rd btw). He initiated it (just to be clear) and I blew his freakin' doors off.
I'm not saying the WRX is the "king of cars" or any BS like that. Nothing of the sort. Not is it perfect by any stretch of the imagination. What I am saying is that if you are a "driver" (meaning you actually don't want leather or nav systems or other such unnecessary items and just want a pure car that is both handles well and is relatively fast), the WRX is the best car you can get for under $25k.

the difference is so minor that I wouldn't make it the deciding factor. What would be the deciding factor is that the wrx/sti looks like ass while the g35 sedan or coupe look very nice.

I would take a g35 over an sti any day of the week.

I would take g35 over sti anyday too, bc it is not that slow and it looks good ..
while u tell some chicks that u have STI.. they would be like wtf.. wat is that..
then when compared to when you tell the chicks that you have g35 , then all the sudden they have mad interests in you..
