I had a 2013 G37 Coupe and I loved it. Was fast and reliable although the rims got scuffed a lot at the curbs being so low. But great car.
I currently have a Lexus RC350 FSport with all the trimmings but it's not quite as enjoyable as my previous G37. I'd get the G37.

You are forgiven.

A likely scenario would be used G vs new Altima. One is a FWD commuter car. The other is RWD, can be had with a manual trans, and generally sparks a bit of interest for gear heads and enthusiasts.

Yep. My Lexus RX330 shares a number of parts with the Toyota Highlander. Many of the drivetrain related items are similar as far as I am aware, but the interior quality are two different classes.

I dunno, to each their own I guess, but I much preferred a gently used 'luxury' car to a base model anything, even new. And the payments are completely different as well.

I'd get an IS350. Every G series car I've ever driven has felt so unrefined. Keep wanting to love them, but they feel cheap when I test drive.

I felt the same. I used to own a 2008 G35 sedan, and even though it was labeled an Infiniti and leather everywhere, underneath it all, it still felt like a Nissan, specifically a Maxima. It wasn't very quiet, fit and finish wasn't all that great, and it wasn't smooth. It did have a great motor though. That V6 would really pull, felt more like a small V8.

My issue with Infiniti, in general, when compared to Lexus is 1) resale is not particularly good, and 2) they don't feel premium compared to a similarly equipped Nissan.

Whereas Lexus, no matter what, at least to me, never feels like Toyota.

My wife's 2008 IS250 still feels sporty yet refined to me (even though slow V6), and she still gets compliments on the car. Also, this car is really holding it's resale value.

the 350 is a completely different beast (in a good way), and the 3rd gen is really much more refined IMO.

I've had a 3 G's. Yeah really. 1 G35 (2003) and 2 G37 coupes (2008, 2013). The first one I sold when it became a bit older. The 1st 2008 G37 got totalled and I loved the car so much, I leased another one just like it.
Then I leased a 2015 Lexus RC350 FSport. I have to tell you, there isn't any comparision in the driveability between the G and the RC350. The G just blows it away in accelaration and fun while driving. The RC is sort of a bore with a smooth engine that whirs like a lawnmower. I'd lease another G but I didn't want to get the same design as the previous G's I had so I got the Lexus. The Lexus is full of technology but really I loved the G more.
What people refer to refinement most of the time is the engine growl that the G has. I've always thought the G was a sports car first and a luxury car second and in that sense it was superb. The Lexus is the other way round. Luxury car first and sports second. Unless I get th RCF next time, my next car will be 400hp q60.

All, thanks for your responses from a while back. I ended up picking a 2016 IS300 this past Monday in Atomic Silver.
