G4TV cancels both Xplay and AOTS

For the few people who still watch them, it seems that G4TV is ending it's two longest running shows. I haven't been able to watch them after DirectTV dropped the channel, but it's kind of sad to see them end.

Xplay at least kind of had a niche purpose as a video game magazine on TV. I never understood AOTS though... it was never funny... never interesting...

AOTS was garbage from the very beginning. It's hard to believe they actually had good programming at one time like The Screensavers and Call for Help. Xplay was decent, but with the availability of content online it's kind of pointless now. I imagine Sessler leaving was the nail in the coffin for that show.

Used to watch AOTS daily, then stopped since i cancelled cable. Saw a recent ep of it and it was lame and boring.

There was rumor that they were turning the entire channel in to a GQ network. I guess this finally confirms it. G4 died a long time ago so it's really not that bid of a deal to me.

Maybe they have a full rebranding on the way and want to start completely fresh. I still miss the Tech TV days.

I didn't care when Olivia left, but it really sucks now that Kevin is gone. Most of the guest hosts have been terrible, even people that I've liked in other things.
Neither will be missed.

nobody mentions the girl thats hosting it now? is she not incredibly fine? and damn is she fit. I was flicking through to it one night and they had this "insanity yoga" guy on there (i dont even know...its just some type of difficult yoga I guess) and the girl did every single move perfectly. the insanity yoga guy brought some hot chick with him as well to demonstrate the moves, and the host girl just dominated her.

anyways, yeah the show sucks but especially so after kevin left.

It's been in the works. It was announced in the summer that G4tv would be reformatted at the end of the year, so it was just a matter of time.

As said, Olivia Munn's departure took the show down a notch, but Kevin was able to hold it up well despite the new female co-host's personality (or lack of). It's been terrible since Kevin left. These dudes that they bring in as the male co-host; they're terrible.

I DVR the show and watch it a day after it airs, but I end up skipping most of it and just watch the videos, The Feed, product and movie reviews, and some of the interviews.

Killing off this version of AOTS without Kevin... I'm okay with that.

G4, AOTS, and Xplay were good up through 2006 or so. Of course, things were better when TechTV was still on it's own. Xplay was still worth watching then.

I guess G4 clamoured too hard to "be more" than what it was and in the process killed itself.
