Which laser mouse should I buy?
A comparison would be awesome!
also if any1 wants 2 suggest some other mice, that would be great, but I don't want to spend more than the $66 i found the g7 for...

I had both. I had already promised to sell the G5 to a friend but played around with it for a while.

Both have the same button layout.

G5 - has a nicer grip and adjustable weights

G7 - wireless and very light

Here's a recent review of both of them - http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/article.php/3604271
You can find many more if you look around.

Personally, I think you'll be happy with either one.

Personally I really like the G7, for the wireless, of course. The cord gets in the way a lot for me on mice with cords.

the g5 cord is wrapped in cloth mesh. it's really heavy duty, and i don't find it getting in the way of anything, ever. i don't notice it, and as far as options you have for weights and ******, it's nice, and the grip is ... stiffer? i dunno. i like it.

I've had 2 G7s die on me... I'm on my 3rd

::crosses fingers; knocks on wood::

1st one died after 2 months use. 3rd one died in 1 weeks use... this one is going strong
Logitech support is incredible. They don't even ask you to ship them the defective product. They say dump it. However, good luck getting through the phone!

I'd go with a G5; I'm still a cord-fan. CORDS WILL NEVER DIE!

Plus, it's got a nice texture and a weight cartridge.

The only thing I hate is when I go to use somebody else's computer/school computer and the cord is being weighted down because its on the edge of the desk, so you constantly have resistance on the cord when trying to move the mouse.

Well, the cord's wrapped in some substance so that it doesn't drag as much, plus the drag isn't very resistant anyway. And I like the look of having a cord on the desk...

If gaming is your priority, I'd go with the G5 or a Razer Copperhead as an alternative. If gaming is more casual then the G7 would be nice because it is wireless. The Copperhead isn't for the standard user; I had to go through a week of adjusting from my Logitech MX510 (of which Logitechs tend to be a "hand" mouse whereas Razers tend to be a "finger" mouse).

From my personal experience, the general consensus is that the Copperhead is a slightly better mouse vs. the G5, however when considering the price/performance (features and what not), the G5 is just as good (possibly better depending on how you like your mouse) ? I honestly don?t think you can go wrong with either one as long as you have patience to set up the mouse properly and get it working the way you like it (moving to the 2000dpi laser can be quite an adjustment)

I had a G5 for a long time and the wireless on the G7 is very close in comparison. I can definitely tell the difference when using previous wireless mice though (mx700, mx600, mx610, ...)

Plus, with the dual battery setup on the G7, the charging is never a pain...

Gaming is my priority and I've not found a better mouse than the G7 to meet those priorities.

Some people still think this is the bad old days of wireless mice where wireless lag, dead batteries, or weight could be serious issues. The G7 exhibits none of those issues.
