It's funny exdeath mentioned kill stories, because I was thinking of that when I read the OP. Some of the best flames I have ever read on the internet came from the Kill Stories section of Honda-Tech back in the day before they got all soft.

Stories like Alky's remind me of why I prefer flying under the radar. In a way, public roads are like time machines that can turn reasonably intelligent people into neanderthals running purely on ancient instinct.

Are you sure you're just not imagining things? I don't want to say it's completely just you but I find it almost ridiculous the confrontation you seem to face during normal driving. I can count with my finger the confrontations I had during my 21 years of driving. Yet people seem to challenge you regularly in your Camry or Cobra. I find it almost laughable. I mean I see terrible drivers daily but rarely do people challenge me on the road regardless of the car I drive.

I rarely see BMW or most higher end cars driving as you describe. I see a lot of import and the domestic camaro/mustang crowd taking chances though.

The genesis guys are also notorious for last minute lane changes around here.

Varies by location. I didn't see that kind of behavior in Denver, Louisville, etc. But people who have visted me in Tucson agree people drive like asshats here.

Not singling out BMWs, just picked a classic stereotype and didn't feel like listing everything. Basically, if they are in something newer, shinier, lower, with bigger rims, brighter headlights, darker window tint, louder stereo, more camber, lower, bigger car payment, or with 5 more HP than you, they will go out of there way to ride your ass, aggressively slingshot around you with unecessary drama, pull up next to you and egg you on knowing they have a better car, etc.

I could ask you why you didn't "get out of the way" of this G6 when it was trying to pass you on the on ramp. Because he wasn't just innocently going fast up the on ramp and you happen to be in his way, he was deliberately engaging in a pissing contest with you. He probably thought your "old" BMW was no match for his newer G6.

It's not a matter of getting out of the way, it's a matter of you weren't in the way to begin with, they went out of their way to pretend you were in there way so they have an excuse to fly by you or antagonize you. It's a matter of they have targeted you to be shown up no matter what, if they know/think you can't retaliate.

Someone going 45, you pull out speed up to 45-50 1/4 mile ahead of them, and they put their foot down to do 65+ the moment they saw you pulling out from the stop. You speed up to 80 and they are trying to do 81 smirking at you because you can't get away, even though they were doing 45 for the 5 miles before you were in front of them. If they are doing it on purpose soley because they are in a 10x nicer car I'll brake check them with my expendable beater rather than give them the gratification of my subservience because that's all they are after.

When someone ahead of you in another lane has been the same speed for miles, then your bumper gets an inch in front of theirs due to .01 mph difference in speed and they floor it all of the sudden. Nothing but highway epeen antics pure and simple. I can tell the difference between someone being a neanderthal trying to "dominate" me vs. someone just randomly hauling ass in the left lane and honestly not playing wiener wars.

Just the other day I was in the Toyota when some fat mexican dude in a Mountaineer peeled out at the light and cut me off while looking back smug and sneering in his mirror. Happens all the time here unless they think you have something bigger than them.
