MInd you nvidia management must take at least some responsibility for not adequately supervising the new engineering staff.
My concern for the AMD-ATi merger is that the money spent needlessly on ATi could have funded an extra fab - something AMD is in dire need of even with the Dresden expansions and the proposed new NA fab.
My suspicion is that the photo's of G80 we have seen thus far are only engineering samples which may or may not represent what the final product will look like.
i ment 'merger' only in a non technical way - as nvidia swallowed them they did merge assets and engineering . . . but thanks for the 'details'
and i'd say nvidia management must take ALL the responsibility for supervising the work on their product - good or otherwise.
again. . . nv30 was not a 'bad' design . . . just fell 'short'
i'm glad you're concerned for AMD . . . i won't ever write them off . . . they have rebounded and prospered even from much worse situations than now . . . i think ATi's 'know how' will take them in the right direction even as ati gets swallowed up . . .
unlike you, i will miss that cool red company from canada
and yeah . . . of course it's an engineering sample . . . you really think it's gonna be a "foot long".
