G800 Specs. whoa they rock. just read

VR Zone has put up some future specs of 3D accelerators that are out or soon to be out. One that caught my attention was the G800 from Matrox. The other 3 we have seen or heard rumors about already. Here is the scoop on the G800 from Matrox:

Memory Clock: 400MHz / 200MHz DDR chips

Unit: 3
Fill Rate: 600 MPixels/sec - 1800 MTexel/sec

I read that myself. sounds pretty impressive, if thats the card that actually comes out.

looks good but the only future card Matrox mentions on thier web site is the g450 which is only a suped up g400. sounds to me like this card will be very late in coming and will probably be low end by then. hope that isnt true

Good if its true, but like I allways say when sites come up with info from "relable srouces", Ill believe it when I see it on the official site

Sounds right up there with the GeForce 2 GTS and Radeon. Looks like they did a comprimise between the GTS's 4 pipelines with 2 texturing units each and the Radeons 2 pipelines with 3 texturing units each.
Hopefully it'll be released soon though, if not it might not be competitive when NV20 and other next-gen competitors arrive.

matrox has not been known for vapor ware.

I'm not saying its vaporware. Its just that since the G200, Matrox has been late to the market compared with its competitors. Despite having a really good product in the G400 that was pretty much the best in its generation, it was too late, as the GeForce was just around the corner. In this 6-month cycle market, I think its better to have a decent, competitive card on time than to have a kick ass card that's delayed. They also have a track record of noticably higher prices than competing cards.
