I Just built my new rig a little bit less than a month ago. Everything worked fine until just recently when it started to get the dreaded "DS3R Boot Recycle Issue" where it just keeps resetting itself over and over and does not get far enough to get into the bios - no beep codes or anything.

I have tested every component outside of the case by themselves with other hardware and everything checks out ok.

Before i go any further...specs are as follows:

Gigabyte DS3R
4GB GSkill DDR2 800
EVGA 9800GTX 512MB
OCZ GameXStream 600w PSU
640gb WD SATA HDD
E8400 Wolfdale not OC'd

actually... nothing i have is oc'd...

The issue actually started when my wife tried to play the sims 2 one night and it just would turn off when the game started. I automatically figured it was the videocard when i swapped for my old 7950GT KO i had laying around and it booted just fine. Well, it started againa day later except this time it would do it no matter what i did. I tried pulling the ram, and all other components out to see if anything else was causing it.

This called for me to test out each component by itself in my old PentD system. Everything checked out ok. Even the videocard.

Well, i can get the system to boot now every once in a while the the 7950 installed. I tried to put back in the 9800GTX today and the system boot cycled... no matter what i do with that card installed the system will not boot. It just loops. The odd thing about it is that the videocard works in other machines just fine...

I am stumped guys. I have no clue what to do. I read about some voltage issues with this board and that you have to set the voltage right in order to fix the problem. Well i dont know what exactly to do due to the fact that i have not ever had any issue of this nature. I also heard about flashing the bios but other people have had no luck with the other versions and i already have the "good" F2 version installed. I don't want to RMA the board because it took FOREVER for me to get my OS installed and get all my stuff transferred over.

Does ANYONE out there have a solution for me?

Oh, and on a side note - is my 9800 GTX supposed to make a high pitched "squeal" when displaying anything 3d? When everything was working and i would play a game like crysis, the card would whine loudly and it sure wasn't the fan.

Thanks all.

Well, you could try raising the PCIe voltage if people say voltages are the problem. You could boot with the 7950, set PCIe to +.1v (I wouldn't try more than +.2v), then boot with the 9800. Before you do any of this, you might want to clear the CMOS. That means pulling the battery and power plug, and shorting the CLR_CMOS jumper (it's next to the battery). Leave it that way for a half an hour at least, it takes a while for it to clear completely.

As for the squeeling, it is a common problem on many cards related to the power circuitry and happens when the card is being stressed heavily. It's ok if it happens occasionally, it's NOT ok for it to do it continuously. You could try underclocking the card with Rivatuner and see if it reduces the squeeling.

Have you tried clearing CMOS? I think your board has a setting on it that is making it fail to boot.
