@Andreas7577, that looks like the AQ3 score is about right....the GFX Score is a little low, but i've found this board is a little slow for gaming...the best drivers for AQ3 are the 61.34...that link that i posted above is my stock score, while i do have a better CPU then you, it shouldn't make THAT much of a difference....

however, i have also run 3DMark 2005, and i got around 4400-4500, so it looks like there may be something holding you back a little...

i am yet to run PCMark2004...

Do you have Service Pack 2 or DirectX 9.0C installed????

Thanks for your reply:
yes I've got the both of them installed Sp2 and Dx 9.0C
What would u suggest me to do ?

Hmmm, the only thing i can think of (it doens't seem like you are having any sort of hardware problems) is to make sure all your drivers are installed correctly...

When you installed your Motherboard drivers did you run it off the CD, or did you install everything manually??

and when you got the motherboard, did you do a clean install of Windows???

About the driver I must admit I don't know because a friend of a friend did the big job.
I just know that everything has been done on a "clean" hard disk.
I have the last nVIDIA nForce Drivers and the 61.77 Forceware.
I checked the gigabyte syte and it suggested me to download and installed those:

nVIDIA CK8S system Driver(XP/2K)
nVIDIA CK8S IDE Driver(XP/W2K)
RealTek AC97 Codec Driver
Marvell Yukon Gigabit LAN Driver
Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATA Driver

Do I need them?

The 61.77 drivers are a bit dated IMO, you might want to try some new ones. 65.73 is solid as a rock and better performing. 66.93 is pretty stable as well, only minor bugs here and there. It seems to be geared more towards direct3D. Your 3DMark05 score is what would be expected of the 61.77s. Any drivers of the 66**s will boost you into the 4000 range (not sure if they're "verifed" by futuremark though...)

And what about them:

nVIDIA CK8S system Driver(XP/2K)
nVIDIA CK8S IDE Driver(XP/W2K)
RealTek AC97 Codec Driver
Marvell Yukon Gigabit LAN Driver
Silicon Image SiI 3112 SATA Driver

By the way:are those ok?
I'll give u some CPU-Z data:
Core speed 2210.8 multiplier x11,HTT 201.0
Memory ddr-sdram 1024,dual,freq 201.0

Open the control panel and select Sounds and Audio Devices, and under the VOLUME tab, click the ADVANCED... button (or just double-click on the speaker icon in the systray ).

In the speaker window that opens, ...

That's what I'll try that when I get home. Thanks again for the heads up, brother.

That's about the only thing I can think of why your mic won't work when plugged into the motherboard's microphone jack. I've got a GN Netcom 8-mic microphone array (http://www.headsetdepot.com/item518.htm.... and no, I didn't pay THAT much for it. ) hooked up to the intergrated audio jack, and I've got a Plantronics DSP-500 headset too.

That sounds like a SICK setup, dude! Wow. I actually have the DSP-500, as well. Boy do I love that headset - the mic is in perfect position and ear pads are darn comfy. Just needed something little and mono so I could take most advantage of the 7.1 surround going at the same time while calling in artillery shots to my derelict gaming buddies.

God bless audio. :music:

Guys what should the voltage on the processor be? I've read complaints on other forums about this board having an unsteady Vcore. The Nvidia system utility (drivers 5.10) and CPUID give me different readings, but the voltages fluctate from 1.1 to 1.55 volts. I figured there must be some voltage changes with cool n quiet, but I see fluctuations even when the processor's at a steady 1GHZ.

Edit: I updated to version 1.25 of cpuid that came out and that seems to be giving me the correct readings. Guess it's the Nvidia system utility that is off...

Ok, im having a little bit of a problem overclocking my 3800...so far, the highest i've been able to get to is 208FSB...with my old AXP 3200 i could get to 240FSB....

Who else, that has a 3800 and AIR COOLING, can overclock well, and what sort of settings do you use????

I am not quite sure what it should be. I went with the assumption that a little overclocking needs a bit more juice for that CPU, so I bumped mine up to 1.6V.

Yes, I did this blindly, but my machine hasn't started smoking, yet

Try calling AMD, and let us know what you find out.

Cheers,

Hi to everybody...

could you try to helph me?

I have a GA-K8NSNXP939 with A64 3500++ and four benchs DDR400 512MB TwinMos.

System is only stable if I use two of my four RAM modules?

Frequency goes down to 333MHz instead of 400MHz, but I read that dual side RAM are not supperted by the system/CPU/Chipset.

Critic is the autosetting of RAM timing with four modules... without sense ?!?!?!?

There is someone who encuontered my same difficulties? Do you have a suggestion?

With 4 modules installed, in the BIOS, try setting Command Rate to "2T"

Major problem with my rig guys. Sorry if this is somehow answered in the 18 pages of text, but I don't have the time to sift through, I read a lot of it, and I think I miaght know what the main prob might be, but anyway. ANY advice would be great from the gigabyte kings here. Here it goes:

I have been having major problems with my setup, and over christmas break im sending a whole hoopla of crap back. I put together all my stuff at the beginning of august. My rig? As follows:

Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 pin
AMD 64 3800+
1 gig (2x512) pc3200 Mushkin RAM
Saphire Radeon x800 XT PE
2 x 120gb WD SATA hard drives...7200RPM
PCpowercooling true 510watt deluxe
Lian-li case

My problem? Have a look:
I have no idea what the hell is wrong with my setup, I'm thinking my Mobo is faulty..Get this, when I was trying to install Windows Xp for the first time, it kept crashing while trying to install kernel.dll or something of that sort. It kept crashing at the same spot, so I thought naturally it was a hardware problem with RAM being the major issue. I try memtest and sure enough the RAM was getting errors in dual channel. So i try each stick separately, no problems and no errors. Windows randomly isntalls on the next few tries after trying different CD-ROM drives etc etc. It was a nightmare. So I now still have this setup, and i get BSOD all the friggen time when I am playing games, or sometimes even opening folders in windows when i'm playing an mp3 or something. I used to get machine_check_exception errors all the time (hardware issue) but now it just restarts on me. I can barely play counter-strike source for a few minutes before it crashes, its basically a crap-shoot. I thought it would be a RAM problem so i try mem test again, dual channel shows errors, once again single sticks show nothing, so i try the other dual channel slots and the machine goes to a screen that says "you have changed your hardware set up, how would you like to enter windows." Whatever option i choose, it always restarts me, and I can't get into windows. So essentially I have to revert to my old dual channel in slots 1 and 2. I tried upping my voltage to my RAM to 2.7, but still no dice. I also updated my BIOS, and nothing. I don't know what to do guys. Judging by the a post of someone who ahs my board, he said its the board has problems with anything but pc2700, but I think i might have a defective board. For one of the most expensive boards on the market, i expected better performance out of this sucker. Anyway, I'm going to RMA the board and the RAM. Maybe I just had a bad board, unless anyone thinks i have a compatibility issue. Also, if this helps, Installing Sims2 gave me major problems as well, but eventually it worked. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated, I'm about to lose it over here, after spending like a boat load on my system.

P.S startup screen says my RAM is in dual channel mode at 200mhz. If that info helps.

ok, put the RAM into single channel and try re-installing Windows...(if you install Windows with faulty RAM sometimes the install can be corrupted, so it is always good to re-install)

and also *Enable* "T2 Timings" in the BIOS...

what is the RAM rated at...ie 2-2-2-5

Dear god, do i really have to re-install windows? Reformatting would be such a hastle with all the information I have on my pC. I don't have the PC with me right now, it's back at home, I'm on my laptop right now. I can't remember exactly the settings were, but I don't believe I was ever able to change it in the BIOS, i looked for ways to change RAM settings, but all I could change was the voltage to the RAM. Think its a faulty board? Cause I'm looking to send the RAm and Board back, and if it wasn't faulty, then why would dual channel show errors to the Ram but single stick show nothing, not to even mention the 3+4 slots dual channel dont even let me get into windows.

no, i don't think it is a faulty board...everyone has had the same or similar problems....

its called incompatibility....it doesn't like your RAM...

take a look back through the pages, there is a link to a page with a list of *Unofficial* Support Memory Chips which could help you...

to have the RAM timings get into the BIOS and Press 'CTRL + F1' and it will open a new menu item...

and why does everyone assume that you HAVE to format your computer if you re-install windows??????

its a option yes...but (obviously) and optional one (hence it being an option...)

Wow...kind of demeaning way of talking to someone looking for help, maybe I just took your incompatibility sentence the wrong way. At any rate, I'll try that CTRL +f1 thing when I get home. By the way, I realize it's an option, but I was always taught if you are re-installing windows XP it is better to do it ona fresh drive, less probablity of problems, smoother install. But who knows. Thanks for the tips, why don't you consider a bad Mobo being an option? I found it funny how the other dual channel slots didn't even work, I also found it weird how single sticks had no errors, but dual channel showed errors. Any suggestions on to what RAM to get?

Lol, don't take it personal man, pantner's alright. And no, it aint a bad mobo, we've all had to work through the same problem's you've been having. I've been running DDR333 just cause it's the only stable setting with my particular memory. As for what memory DOES work, I believe crucial has a number of modules that are "guarranteed" to work.

Bottom line: socket 939's mem controller is a bit limited... the other mobo manufacturer's seem to have been able to work around it to improve compatibilies at DDR400... Gigabyte has not...

Hmmm...so that might be my problem huh? Cause my RAM is DDR400, so are you saying DDR400 is not compatible at all? And people told me Mushkin would be fine....SONS' A B......At any rate, I called Mushkin a while ago, and while very helpful (extremely nice women helped, but wasn't too knowledgable of the problem) they told me the RAM I had was sucessfully tested with the nvidia 3 chipset...Should I get new RAM, or just run my GIG in single channels? I'm also an idiot and I don't think I've updated my BIOS to the latest, I feel embarassed. One quesiton while doing the bios, do I have to do all of them in steps, or can I just do the latest BIOS? How do i exactly do the BIOS updates? Any simple directions would help, thanks.

hey, sorry man...and thanks flawlssdistortn!

im just a bit of a D**K sometimes...and im tired...today is supposed to be my day off from work...

i work in a computer store, and sometimes people in general just get me wownd (i can't spell...) up...

its not DDR400 that is the problem...its DDR400 in dual channel that is the problem...

To update the BIOS install a program called "@BIOS" off the Gigabyte CD that came with the motherboard...goto the gigabyte website and download the latest BIOS (99% sure its called the F6 BIOS) and its pretty straight forward after that....just download the latest, you don't need to do them step by step...

i currently have my RAM in dual channel (2x512) , recently i have been getting the occasional BSOD, but that was cause i tightened my timings and it didn't like it (the board i think...my old board ran fine with those timings..) buts its alot more stable then most people's from what i gather...i was just lucky that my RAM was compatible...

BTW, i am getting rid of his board soon (VERY SOON), well, as soon as DFI release their 939 board and i can get my hands on it! that'll hopefully run good with 2-2-2-5 RAM!

Sorry again for the stupid question but I'm definetly a noob when it comes to hardware.
A friend of mine sorted out the pc for me and I was wondering if my Ddr 400 are set to work as Ddr 400 and not less.
I became very dubious when I found this result with Pc-Z:

Memory ddr-sdram 1024,dual,freq 201.0

Shouldn't the freq. be 400? (they are 400Mhz.....)

it depends which way you look at it....as it is DDR (Dual Data Rate) RAM the FSB (ie, 200) is doubled...

i think that is correct...use something else to check it just to be sure...i think 3D Mark does it for you...

Panter...you are one good guy, thanks for the advice and help. I'll have to try all that crap over x-mas break. One thing, people are saying that slots 3+4 are more stable for the ram, yet, I can't even get into windows when i throw the dual channel slots in 3+4, it just asks me what method i want to choose to enter windows since i changed hardware config, then whatever i choose, it just restarts to the same screen. I'm forced to slots 1+2. Also, do you suggest I just get new RAM that is "compatible" (according to gigabyte's half ass tech support) with the board? One more question, could wrong timings and old BIOS be enough to give me all the random crashes and restarts I get? Thanks.

just before i answer your question...sometime it takes a while for someone to reply on this board (any board really), so, IMO its not good to post messages like "Anyone have an answer to my previous question? "...before you were lucky that i had access to the net while at work (and am the only one here) but those last questions were posted while i was asleep...so it was impossible for me to reply...

ok, about the slots...im not sure which ones im using...im using the ones closest to the CPU...if i put it in the other 2 i get BSOD on bootup....

The BIOS definetly helps with the RAM...im not sure if you saw, but my board blew about 2 months ago, when i got my new one back, it had the F3 BIOS and would hold on the windows loading screen for about 20secs...then i updated to the F4, and the problem went away...

im not sure to suggest getting new RAM or not...its not gurenteed to work even if it is on the list...like i said, i was lucky and my (OEM) RAM was on the list, but i still have problems!!!!!
