The RealTek control panel has the analog inputs grayed out.
It certainly does not detect when I plug in anything into the back panel or the front panel. I have cleaned all the drivers and re-installed 1.84 (even unplugged all usb except for my mouse) as suggested was suggested in another article I found on the web. No Joy.
The system is running Vista64 on the GA-p35-DQ6 MB (w 4gig).
The speakers have already been tested on a different source so they are fine. I've looked at all the levels/mutes on the vista box and they seem fine. The Digital Output shows up as working in the Sound/Playback control panel. Speaker shows up as "not detected". I can run the test sounds when the Digital (S/PDIF) port is selected. Tried disabling the Digital output but that still didn't result in the speakers being detected.
I've uninstalled (and cleaned) the realtek drivers and reinstalled both (not at the same time ) the original drivers that came with the MB and the latest from realtek's site... no difference.
Not sure if this is worthwhile info but, when windows starts up and shuts down, I hear a slight "pop" from the speakers that are plugged in but certainly no sound.
Any thoughts?
