So I built a new computer with the following specs:

CASE ANTEC|NINE HUNDRED BK RT - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$119.99)
MB GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R 775 - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$126.99)
PSU CORSAIR|CMPSU-520HX RT - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$109.99)
CPU INTEL|C2Q Q6600 2.40G 775 8M R - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$279.99)
MEM 2Gx2|MUSHKIN DII800 996557 R - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$112.99)
HD 500G|SAMG 7K 16M SATA2 HD501LJ - OEM (Qty=1, Price=$104.99)
DVD BURN LITE-ON|LH-20A1S SATA R - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$34.99)
S/W MS WIN VISTA 64BT HMPRE 1P DVD% - OEM (Qty=1, Price=$111.49)
CPU THERMPASTE|ARCTIC SILVER5 3.5G% - OEM (Qty=1, Price=$5.99)
VGA EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 8800GT 512M - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$289.99)
CPUCOOLER|TUNIQ K8&P4|Tower 120 RTL - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$44.99)

unfortunately, the system will not boot. I think it POSTs: when i turn it on, everything starts up, but there is no power to my USB keyboard or mouse. The BIOS loads into that screen that says "SPEED, SMART, SAFE" and just stays there.

I've tried using a PS/2 keyboard too, also no power to the keyboard.

Since it goes into that loading screen, I assume the motherboard posts? I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, since i've heard of a lot of issues with the gigabyte line, and if it's basically a DOA motherboard or if something else may be the problem.

Hi Ya Hoeve61, and welcome to the forums!

I'm sure people are more than willing to help you with your problem if you start you own post, and include your own specific parts, operating system details, ect.....

Makes it a lot easier!

Good Luck!

You could check your manufacturer's recommended memory voltage.

If your memory uses a non-stock voltage (i.e. > 1.8v), the system may not start with the default BIOS settings. It's an annoying catch-22.

In this case, you would have to put in a stick of RAM that can handle stock voltage, set the higher voltage, save the BIOS settings, power down, and reinstall the high perf. memory.

Otherwise, I'd suggest you post your own thread in the PC troubleshooting forum, where help is more likely.

I checked the memory specifications and it uses 1.8V. So that is not the problem. Any other suggestions.

For what its worth I had the same problem but after steady use for many months. I found it particularly interesting that my problem with the keyboard and post screen was identical. I RMA'd the mobo and havent heard much from Gigabyte after waiting a month for the results. I asked them what happened and got this response,
"Dear customer,
>
> The one of the chip was replaced and tested. The
> motherboard was tested ok
> after the chip replacement.
>
> Thank you"
I have no idea what they did or what they are sending me back. I found a ds3l to use while the dq6 was in RMA and it seems fine. Buying the first generation of any mobo can be risky and wish I had not gotten the most expensive one when the simpler, cheaper models do the same thing as well or better.
