Good idea, but there's no reason involved-- just good ol' fashion zealotry.

My take: less federalism-- let the creationsists do what they want as long as they stop messing around with the Blue States of America.

Less federalism - exactly. You do understand, of course, that programs like SS, Medicare, etc., probably wouldn't withstand a strictly-federalist reading of the Constitution, don't you? How's this for a deal: If we on the Right stay out of your marriage, will you on the Left stay out of our wallets? Secular zealotry is as bad as religious zealotry.

Bwahahahhaha. Stay out of your wallets? The Blue states are giving you more money than you put out! You get more in tax benefits than you pay out, red-staters. Get out of MY wallet deadbeat!

SS, Medicare are already on the way out thanks to the red-staters. The funny thing is it's going to be you guys who suffer the most. Not much going on in terms of technological advancement in those red-states.

But that's exactly the point - Republicans (rightly, in many cases) are constantly accused by the Left of "meddling in private lives", yet is not the Left as bad, if not worse? Most of the federal budget is now being spent on what is essentially charity, which is clearly a private matter, yet all are FORCED to donate to the Left's secular church, Our Lady of Income Redistribution.

Deal infohawk. Now, as for your little comment about technological advancement of the south, I take it you've never visited Atlanta, Austin, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, or even my hometown of Huntsville....which has the highest concentration of PhDs in the country.

So support even larger tax cuts and deeper spending cuts. See if you hurt me. If the blue states are giving more than they get, whose fault is that?!?

Sorry most of the cutting-edge advancements I am thinking of come from the blue state industries and schools. Anyway, I'm all for healthy competition. So you red-staters give it your best shot. You can get as backwards as you can for all I care... I'm sure you'll have a lo of PhDs when all your schools are teaching creationism. But first we're going to have to take away some of those nice taxes you've been taking from us on the federal level.

Hypocritical red-state politicians and their supporters who claim to be into self-sufficiency but love getting handouts.

What's wrong with keeping taxes where they are but still putting in deep spending cuts so the deficit gets reduced?

Hmm...quite the thread diversion going on.

Well to get the debt down I think your option is the only viable one. However, after the debt is paid off I'd like to see the cut in spending remain, as well as a removal of taxes.

Small government = good.

Nothing's wrong with it. I'm with anyone wielding the budget axe (as if anyone's touched that tool in years). I'll agree that balancing the budget is paramount.

Eh, all politics is (or should be) connected by universal principles anyway . . .

Two people that argue or fight or have no respect for each other (esp. in the case of infidelity) can surely be fixed in 4-6 months. All these people need is a little lovin' from Jesus.

Now why do you have to interject the religious tones? Why bring in religion? Why not just stick to the topic in hand, i.e., government involvment in personal matters.

Now, having said that, this also irritates the crap out of me on a personal level, but I also recognize that marriage is on a legal level contractual STATE law, and as such it is within the state's legal authority to modify or dictate said contractual law.

Now, to further clarify my position, the national government has ZERO authority to be involved in such things. Marriage, as contractual law, is solely the domain of the respective states.

The states are not free to enact marriage law in violation of the federal constitutional.

Snobbish? Maybe. When you destroy wage equality you better get used to it. It's a natural consequence of a stratified economy. Welcome to the second guilded age.

Yes, I've been to the south. I think it sucks. Let's decrease the federalism and see how it does. I'm sure you think it'll do great. I disagree. Let the games begin. But first you have to get your Shrub get his spending under control.

Bahahaha, the only reason all those "PHD's" are in Huntsville is because the Government set up shop in that hard to reach area for all the Military and Space research. The "Concentrated PHD's" you are so proud of are not native born Alabamans but come from all over the Country for the Military and Space work.

"Concentrated" is a good word for it, Huntsville is like a Techno Geek Concentration camp.

So much for your "technological advancement of the south".

Who are these dead beats you are supporting? What percentage of your taxes go to deadbeats and pork?

I suspected that much. The only place I could think of was Cape Canavaral, which is another federal program. And maybe Austin, a liberal enclave. Then there's Northern Virginia but that is basically DC and is more blue than red. I really would just love to see these red-staters get the competition they ask for.

Maybe I'm mixing you up with the other pseudo-libertarian creeps, alchemzie perhaps.

You support a woman's right to abort the fetus in her womb at any stage of her pregnancy?

You support gay marriage (assuming the state is going to be involved in marriage, and given that heterosexual marriage is sanctioned by the state)?

That's a sticky subject with me honestly (abortion).....the first two trimesters, ya I agree. However there comes a point where you have to draw the line.

As for gay marriage, the national government should kindly stay the hell out of it. If Massachusetts decides gay marriage is legal, then so be it. If Alabama decides it is not, so be it. What I would like to see is an ammendment excluding marriage from Article VI of the constitution. I am very, VERY firmly against any constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage. I am also very, VERY firmly against the supreme court or any other federal court dictating that gay marriage is legal in all states regardless of the citizen's wishes.

It is a state issue (contractual law) so leave it to the states. Everyone is happy.....states that want gay marriage have it. States that dont, dont. Now as to my personal beliefs, I have no problems whatsoever with gay marriage.

Really? I guess all the PhDs that UAH pumps out each year are just bullshit right? I think you would be surprised at just how many of the people here were born and raised. You're comments would have been correct back in the 60s and even 70s, but not today. But hell what do I know I just live here.

You still nicely ignored the other cities I mentioned. Liberal or conservative, they are in the south, and they are very technically advanced. The fact that you assume that anyone from the south is religious and conservative shows just how ignorant you really are.

Merely pointing out the brashness of Southerners now and you confirmed that for all of us to see, thank you very much.

Of course after the last Election it should be very clear how the South finally won the Civil War, just took them a while but they got there.
