And what's your point? We were in Grenada for less than 60 days, so he was well within his powers per the war powers act.

I still say the President was within his rights as part of NATO/UN. Remember we only gave support in the air to protech Libyan citizens.

My point is let's just take your premise, remember France refused to allow access into their airspace to bomb Gaddafi(15th spelling I guess). Reagan said FU and did it anyway.

I agree with what Reagan did, but he did violate another country's sovereginty. Seems most Presidents are capable of bending laws to achieve certain goals

I know that France, Spain and Italy all refused overflight of their airspace because they would not be told the exact details

We honored that and sent the attack wing the long way around via the Straits. Tankers were being used to refueling tankers. (Navy calls it a chainsaw). Send a group of tankers out to refueling another group. The second group is responsible for supporting the strike force. If needed, a third set of tankers can be launched, extending the range by a third. After the outbound strike is refueled, they link back to the previous set of tankers to refuel themselves, then wait for the strike to return. Those refueling tankers can then refuel if needed on the outbound and return legs. Had they flown over France, the second set of tankers would not have been needed. Extra 2500 miles was added to the mission each way.

It is also felt that the extra distance contributed to the loss of the F111 which was shot down. Increased the time to react.

Italy also alerted Libya that the attack was coming, so we did not get the primary target

The best way to prevent the death of civilians is to attack the head of the force responsible for the threat.

Then Ob*tch should have gone to congress and said "I want to take out a dictator, and here's how." We said we were enforcing an effing NO FLY ZONE. Stop ignoring that.

Well look at this way, the events of the Arab spring keep marching on. The old line ruler of Tunisia is gone, Mubarak is gone, Gaddafi is gone, next up will probably be Assad in Syria, Salem in Yemen is on his last legs as well as similar events.

As the events of the Arab spring seem to favor economic self determination and getting rid of old line dictators who looted the treasuries to only the benefit of themselves and their cronies.

Well only time will tell if this "Arab Spring" will do any good to the people in those countries. Some Asian countries have gone through similar exercise, Philippines with Marcos, Indonesia with Suharto. But in the end, instead of one family stealing from the country, it's bunch of powerful and connected families stealing from the country, nothing much has changed.

And without a strong armed dictator, some mob and extremist are getting their way. Those extremist Muslims in Indonesia is running around the country and burning down houses of people worshiping something those mobs do not approve, and beating/arresting those violating their Sharia laws.

Not all changes worked out for the better and democracy and self determination may not work in all countries.

Air suppression for a no-fly zone is one thing.

NATO was involved in actual air-ground attacks (facilities, weapon staging areas, military posts, combat support) which had nothing to do with the no-fly zone.

It was false premises after the first go around.

The immensely civilized fighters who represent the GREAT looking future of Libya have sodomized their former leader aswell before they killed him.

http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1680276/pg1

Surely with people like that populating Libya, that nation will have a great great future ahead for itself and no doubt will be a beacon of progression for the rest of the world [ok ok, no it wont, the animals run Libya now and they are also Jihadist scumbags to boot].

Thank you Obama for spending 2 billion $ to achieve this btw..

The USA strung up Saddam. How civilized of us.

Dictators usually face violent deaths. Either at the hands of the people they've oppressed or the people seeking to supplant them.

But this time because republicans cant take credit for a 2 billion dollar no us death operation its the worst thing to ever happen but you would defend till your deaths the high costs of iraq that your retarded leaders stepped in. fucking idiots. No wonder the world is overtaking us with numnuts like you all to compete against.

Not sure if I want to watch the video.

Regardless of what the person has done, I believe they should be entitled to a fair trial, and to be treated as humanly as possible.

As a dimocrat, its hard to feel sorry for Gaddafi who was in inhumane monster who murdered, tortured, his own people on a routine basis. And in numbers in the hundreds of thousands.

Yet what is hard to understand is the premise of this thread, sure it would have been noble if some detachment of Libyan rebels had treated the captured Gaddifi in a humane manner, but how it becomes a total indictment of the entire Libyan rebel movement is dubious. When the end question is and remains, will the people of Libya end up replacing one tyrant with another equally bad tyrant, or will the governance of Libya vastly improve? We don't know yet but it can hardly be worse.

In related news, Tunisia, the first jewel of the Arab spring, finally held elections and moderate forces won. As a democratic government replaces a dictatorship.

You can't be serious? Are you deluded or the type that blames the US first and always regardless of facts and reality? The Iragis not only tried Saddam, they then hanged him THEMSELVES.

Considering what he did for decades--and mind you I'm against state-sponsored torture and capital punishment in all cases no exceptions whatsoever--it's still incredibly hard to have any sympathy for anything that happened to him or his sons by the very people he abused for many years.

It's insane in fact. Many people in the US have no problem putting to death somebody who maybe killed a person or two or maybe not but a dictator who savaged thousands of people over many decades gets knocked and beaten up before being put to death they feign shock and horror.
