Microsoft noted that their ongoing work with software makers has drastically reduced the amount of UAC prompts being caused by third-party software trying to do stuff that it really shouldn't be.
One of the problems for me right now is applications that install license servers. These either require you to go through the UAC prompts, which I don't mind so much, while others require UAC be disabled completely. If you don't then the applications appear to install fine, but don't work or refuse to register with the license servers.
This isn't really vistas fault but it is still an annoyance for the end user.
