I just saw at NewEgg they have these video cards for sale. Is this a mistake? Does a 128MB Geforce3 Ti200 exist? They have the 128MB Gainward Ti200 in stock. If it is not a mistake, if this video card atually has 128MB on board ddr ram, I want one!

Only problem is I live in Canada and NewEgg only ships within the US. If these cards are for real, I was hoping someone can help me out and I would compensate him for his kindness.

I would like to see some feedbacks if someone knows anything about this card. Here is the link.

ya such cards do exist

I read it on nvnews.net a while ago, saying gainward is going to make some 128MB DDR GeForce 3 Ti200 cards, so ya I'm sure its legit, no doubt bout it......

dont know how these cards perform tho, but more memory is always better =)

Gainward announced this card a few weeks ago, it's not a typo.

I wonder if it will be just like the mx400 (64mb) is to the original MX (32mb)... where they added more ram and it added no more perfomance

I noticed that newegg has the 64mb version for $156! Good price...

The extra memory might be good for some CAD apps, but for the most part I bet it doesn't make much diffreence.

Nope Nvidia has made some real gains in their biggest bottleneck which is memory.. which is great but having more doesn't make the bottleneck any bigger.

Since you guys mentioned CAD, how is a card like the Geforce 3 TI200 at regular 2D windows apps? Currently I use an old Matrox G400 at 1280 X 1024 on an 19 inch monitor. Would 2D be noticably better with the G3 card?

from what i understand, gainward makes the best 2d on these cards, but I dont think it would touch a g400. (which, BTW I use on my server, works great.)

I recommend keeping that G400 or going for a Matrox G550.. you're doing 2d cad right, not 3d modeling/design? If you're not feeling any slowdown with the G400, why change it?

Of course you could always try to improve your picture clarity by removing the filters as Anand wrote up on the review page... sounds a little hairy to me though...

maybe there will be a card with rambus ram instead of ddr.....that would lessen the bottleneck.

Actually, while RDRAM has a higher overall throughput, it also has a higher latency. The higher latency would probably reduce the overall benefit that you would see from an RDRAM GeForce card, especially because of the way the GeForce cards are designed. Notice how Playstation 2 uses RDRAM, and was designed with RDRAM in mind, and yet it does not really offer a huge overall performance gain. What it can do is stream data very well because of the large throughput that RDRAM gives you.

Right now, the memory world needs something that has a low latency like DDR, yet still has a high throughput like RDRAM. I'd imagine something like this would be very cost prohibitive especially with consumers used to having RAM prices so low (and yes, $100 for 256MB of RAM is still relatively low in comparison to the $2 or $3 per meg that we were paying when SDRAM was first introduced with the Pentium MMX).

OK, when it comes to PC's, and peripherals for that matter, more is usually better, right? But I just don't see the benefit either... Anyone with any more insight on this, other than opinions???

More memory isn't always better. This is a mere marketing scheme aiming for uninformed customers(or those wanting to show off). IMHO, I don't think it's even worth a full review from any popular site since it offers no improvement over the 64MB model. You're better off to save the extra bucks for the next upgrade.

well, if you are going to use the card only for gaming, then yeah, you don't need 128mb. but for those who do a lot of 3d rendering, you might want to look at 128 mb. but hell, ig you are not doing it for the gaming, you might as well get a cairo. oh well, bump for a good deal for those that may want/need a 128mb card.
