Gainward FX 5700 ULTRA GOLD

Hi, my video card is as described in the post topic. Running on this system:

MSI KT3 Ultra 2
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
640 Mb Crucial DDR 2700
40+20gig WD 7200rpm (2 hd's)
430w "Award" PS

The card seems to detect wrong when the system is first booted up. You know the very first thing to appear (usually) on your screen when turning your computer on is your vid card BIOS and info. Well, the card is 128mb, and if it detects it as that everything is fine. My problem is it detects is as 256mb every once in a while and the system never makes it to XP.

Hmmm. I tried the following with no luck to clear this up:

Different powersupply
Flashed Mobo BIOS to newest version
Flashed Vid Card BIOS to newest version
Updated all mobo drivers
tried both gainward and reference drivers
Tried the video card in another system

I am about to drop the card in the mail for an RMA, if anyone knows why the card is doing this, information would be very helpful.

RMA it i dont see what you can do to "Fix" that

I second that, you should RMA it, no 5700 Ultra has 256MB of RAM. Seeing as how you've already tried flashing the video card BIOS, an RMA is in order.

Ok, thanks, i will drop it off on my way out. Believe it or not, this is actually my first RMA, and i order ALOT of stuff, i used to always get my video cards from XFX and never had any problems. Does Gainward have a bad track record for this?

No not at all, Gainward and Leadtek are known for their cards being good overclockers actually.
