Gainward problems?

Has anyone ever recieved any problems with a Gainward GeForce and a VIA chipset? My Gainward GeForce 4 Ti4200 + Shuttle AK31 v3 (VIA KT266a) is giving me problems with the UT2k3 and Unreal 2 engine...

This is key: Make sure you have the latest 4 in 1 drivers installed. My GeForce 4 Ti4400 w/ KT333 and XP1800 works fine.

Yeah, I've got those 4 in 1's installed, but I think I've heard somewhere that the KT266 has problems... Arg.

I had the same video card/ mobo combination as you and I didn't have any problems.

Mem - mainly, when I play UT2k3 or Unreal2, the games crashed after about 5 minutes of play... I've got all the latest drivers, patches, etc, etc... I've looked into it a bunch and can't find the reason. I admit everything else runs fine, but I've called gainward tech support and they said return it... Hah! So, I figure I might as well RMA it unless I can find something to help make those damn games run

i've also heard that i might just have something bad on my card, and when I run those games - which are newer - it might need to use those 'bad parts' and therefor crash soon after

I remember reading there was some bad Gainward GF4 Ti4200 cards,anyway Gainward were replacing them free of charge so returning yours for a new replacement is a good idea.Btw it should run those games just fine with no crashes.

HUGE thread about this here at amdforums. i myself have this exact card on a via chipset running for 8 months no problems. just moved it to an old intel board and no probs there either. i would wipe my forehead and sigh "whew", but that thread details many cases where board have just poof! gone bad one day after a years worth of running fine.

Customer of mine has your setup and had those exact problems at the end of last year. Returned the card to Gainward and they sent us the newest model (sent in 4200 regular without TV out, got the new modell with TV out and 8x AGP). Since then there have been no more problems.
