Gainward Ti4200 @ Newegg

Newegg has the Gainward Ti4200 back in stock, but this time they raised the price to $226.00. What kind of crack are they smoking? That's a 13.5% increase in price over it's debut price of $199. Gee wiz, I know these cards are hot right now, but it makes me sick to see company's milk the public like that :disgust: . Guess I'm going to have to wait until the competitor products come out and price comes back down. I want this card bad, but I'm not paying more than what it's worth (to me).

You are barking up the wrong tree if you want people to join in with you and criticize Newegg. They are very popular around here and personally, I have never dealt with a better company.

HI LarryJoe. You make a very good point. I deal with Newegg a lot, and I'm not trying to bash them by any measure. Thanks for allowing me to clarify. I'm just anxious to get a Ti4200, but I'm kind of peeved that the prices are going up instead of down. As a banker, I should understand and feel comfortable with the concept of supply and demand. But since it's MY money, I'm NOT! Hee heee......oh well, I need to be patient. I'm sure a month from now Newegg will come through for me with a nicely priced Ti4200.

Damn right. I'm in the process now of pricing the Ti4400's. I'd rather get one of those at a reduced price than pay for an overpriced Ti4200. The "suggested" retail price of the Ti4400 is $299, but most of them can be found between $230-250.

I saw several ti440s @ $220 on pricewatch. Who needs ti4200s at jacked-up prices?

I guess my GF2GTS will have to last me a little longer; although if I were buying right now, I guess I'd go with a 4400 (I think the price/preformance ratio is better with the current 4200 prices).

Drysdale, hang in there. Newegg will most likely come through for you. But yes, I agree, for that price you may as well go for the 4400 if you are in a hurry. I am running a regular GF3 at 225/525, but also have the itch to pull the trigger on a Gainward 4600. Upgrading is such an expensive habit.

Must wait for Geforce 5! (keep teling myself)

Good luck man.

Looks like Abit has cut their prices again. 4400s are showing up on Pricewatch for <$220. I'm liking this trend.

Are any of the cheapest companies on pricewatch for the abit ti 4400 reliable? Like beyond comp. or myinfinity.com?

Not sure about myinfinity, I've made purchases from both Computers Beyond and USSA that went fine. Both seem to overcharge on shipping, but with the low price on the card seems to balance it out.

Granted the VIVO cards will remain more expensive, but everyone will be getting the lower end models for that price in a month. These places are gouging like crazy because the 4200's aren't in full circulation yet.

The good folks at Newegg must be reading this thread. As of 12:11AM EST USA they've lowered the price back down to $211.00 plus $8.00 shipping. Nice try, but I'm no sucker. Give me back $199.00 and you just might have a deal.....

Struggled for a long time, I couldn't wait any longer for Ti4200 to drop below $200, so I went out and got myself a Radeon 8500LE.
I think I'll just skip the G4 line, 8500 should be good until Xmas comes

Should I get the Ti4200? My rig is still the old P3-700@933 (512 bm ram), and currently on a Radeon LE. Does the upgrade for GC alone make any sense? Man, my Morrowind runs too slow...

I think it is kind of crazy because ATACOM still stay at $209. And now they have another 64mb version only for $165.00.

Its actually been a couple of years since I bought from NewEgg (last PC build), but I see they've made a name for themselves on this board. How about atacom.com, are they any good? I see their prices are almost spot-on to NewEgg, but I've never done business with them.
