Seems like a holiday tradition to get a Galaxy card with big rebates each year. Last year was the 9800gtx $40 AR. N41

And they haven't been cheaper since; not even a year later. It'll most likely be quite some time before we see these cards this cheap again, so I finally bit.

main message: it's a gtx 460 768 with a fan that is louder than average.

I just received mine and have been running heaven benchmark for 20 min and the fan is still barely audible. Maybe they updated the bios or something?

Edit: Update I ran OCCT GPU and you can hear it when the GPU gets up to 65c+ but no more than many other cards I've owned.

Mine came yesterday. Really nice product from what I can see. Nice heatpipe cooler, nice heatsink on the regulators. Installed without a hiccup. I like the positioning of the power connectors. Makes it much easier since they are not interfering with my SATA connectors on the drives. Nice low idle temp (~37C), fan speed throttles down to 20% and is inaudible. Ran 3dMark06 and didn't really hear any increase in fan noise. Score was around 17000 with stock clocks in my Phenom x6 1055T system.

OK, I did some gaming the other night (some BC2). The fan noise does get noticeable after about 5 minutes. I guess its to be expected. Its not overly loud though and for me, it was not distracting from the game. The card handled BC2 at High settings with no problems. I'm only running 1280x1024 right now though. We'll see how that changes next week when my new 1920x1080 monitor arrives.

I just picked one up at Fry's. They have a ton of Galaxy branded cards. This was the best deal in the store. The GTX 470 and others were way pricey. Anyone have benchmarks on CUDA H264 encoding performance with 1080p material? I hoping to speed my video encoding up.

you mean decoding? encoding is mostly CPU, no?

Thuban 2.8Ghz. BC2 is one of the few games that will use all 6 cores.

Well the CUDA HD rendering performance is rather dissapointing with this card. Still can't get real-time video encoding of not even 720p files to H264 for BD-R disc. Are there any cards out there to help accelerate encoding besides the SpursEngine cards?

I peeked at a couple of charts and the GTX 460 1GB is about 50% faster than a GTS 450.

So, rule of thumb; the GTX 460 768MB would be (very) roughly 35-40% faster than a GTS 450, right?

Anyway, yeah, this is why I bit on this deal.
