The Verge just gave the Galaxy Note 7 a 9.3/10... the highest out of any Samsung smartphone ever achieved..

http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/16/12491196/samsung-galaxy-note-7-review

Even BGR, an equally pro-Apple site as the Verge, is worried about Apple:

http://bgr.com/2016/08/16/samsung-galaxy-note-7-review/

Nice to see the Note 7 recognized as a great design, which is it.

As for worrying about Apple... lol. Call me an extreme cynic, but I've seen this cycle too many times before to do much worrying about Apple. Samsung looks to be sitting pretty right now because the N7 is first out of the gate. Apple will come out with the iP7, it'll have some interesting features but overall ho-hum (IMO) but sell a freakin' trillion units, because... iPhone.

Samsung will then trip all over itself to follow Apple once more (even though IMO Apple is trailing way behind) and blunder around stripping out features "Look! We can do no headphone jack too!" in effort to backtrack far enough to "keep up" with Apple. I hope I'm wrong, but never count the Android crowd out from blundering down the 'follow Apple' trail.

Nice! I dont know if i'll get the 256gb memory or the watch. I already have 3 200gb cards and a few watches.

I'm not sure what carrier you are on, but you can get the Gear S2 from Verizon for $50 right now as it is, so it isn't that great of a deal. I have a S2 and really like it, but the huge memory card might actually be a better deal right now.

T-Mobile is also offering a year of Netflix. I might jump on that since the watch had meh reviews and I don't really need that big of a memory card.

VZW. I can either choose the Fit2 or the 25gb card. I already have 2 stacked free netflixes on my account with tmo. I used my jobs vzw phone update to get the note 7 although I plan to use it with my tmo sim.

A year of Netflix is probably the best actual value.

Most of the S2 reviews I saw were favorable, but the S3 is just around the corner anyhow. I would probably go for Netflix if it were me.

A year of Netflix is less than $100 (or thereabouts). The 256gb uSD card is ~$200-250. A Fit 2 is $179. IMO, the Netflix year is the worst value. I'll get way more use out of the memory card, I'll never use the Fit2 (got a 360v2 already) and Netflix is too cheap to consider it as reason to buy the phone.

Now, if they bundled the new Gear Icon X or new Note7-compatible GearVR instead....

Netflix is $120 a year. The Gear S2 watch with 3g connectivity is like $250.

The G2 watch is perfect for me (got it the next day after I ordered, but not my N7 yet) as I wanted to get one anyway. A 256GB SD card would have been nice, but I'd have kicked myself. I can enjoy the watch right now, truthfully, I'd just be looking for ways to utilize the card (let me just put dozens of movie rips on my phone, giant music library, go nuts taking 4k videos) ...and still not come close to maxing it!

Not that I'd mind a ginormous card in it... its just not so immediately gratifying in real world use. (Other than just seeing that huge potential storage number on my phone and not having to worry about it too much.)

Yep. I stand corrected.

The Gear S2 is $50 at Verizon right now, unless that deal ended this week. I realize it is too late to make the switch even if you wanted to, just giving a heads up in case others are interested. That's a pretty good deal for a pretty nice watch.

No reason to be "corrected", some might consider the Netflix year a great value, it's just that I'm not one of them. I have a 64gb card in my Note 4 and it's got about 10gb free. The 256gb card is the best value for me, even if it were cheaper.

I don't have Verizon and I'll take "free" vs. $50. (Neither is really free or just $50 as they both require service costs.) I was just pointing out the retail values were pretty close. (Gear S2 and SD card).

I have a Note 3 and my wife an S7. I don't get all that excited about her phone. The differences to me are really on paper IMO. In real-world use, I think the camera takes slightly better pics and the water-proof feature is reassuring and that's about it. I wanted to get a Note 7 (because my screen is somewhat damaged at the bezels), but if it's anything like an S7, I'm not paying anything over $400 for one. Maybe not even $300.

In short, people are min/maxing. I don't mind doing that, but not at these price tags.

In even shorter, some y'all are nuts. But, tech forum.

Some people use their phone as basically their laptop replacement, this is especially true with something like a Note 7. So dropping that cash on a phone isn't really a big issue.

That's me. I maintain several spreadsheets in google docs on my phone (and check all my email), so the s-pen is really nice for that.

I don't have a problem with the price. It amazes me how spoiled I've become, to expect something engineered this well, as powerful as it is, reduced down to such a small package to cost almost nothing.

I know there are cheaper phones, but with a wacom digitizer built in, and pen input that feels as good? A screen that's as nice? waterproof? iris scanner? etc...

These things are bargains for what they cost, really.

I'm glad that there are phones that cost much less and keep innovation and competition moving along- you've go to pack in a lot to charge close to a grand for a smartphone now (even Apple to some degree!) and that's great for consumers.

I use the S-Pen all the time, because I like RDing into my server on my phone.

Sounds like a great phone. I really don't need one as my 6P is fine, but I was never 100% in love with it after coming from the Note 4.

Too funny! I put my wife on high alert to message me the second my N7 arrives.

She let me know it got there about an hour ago FedEx.

Problem? I'm stuck at work.

Have to delay gratification a few hours! The horrors!!

Checked out the Note 7 in Target recently while picking up groceries. It's a big phone and didn't feel particularly good in the hand. One handed operations seemed impossible. I'm used to going through SMS messages with one hand. Now I don't know if I can. :/ Need dat iPhone screen bump down option.

Note 7 copied one thing from ios that I like. When you create a folder on the screen and add app icons and open an app then close the app the folder window with the apps is still opened. They also copied the blue light filter in display settings. Nice.
