What year is it?I might wait a few weeks on this one, just make sure that they aren't randomly catching on fire for anybody.

My Note 7 still has not ignited.I might wait a few weeks on this one, just make sure that they aren't randomly catching on fire for anybody.
Typing this on a Note 4.
Alas, my note 4 boots up with errors. Still have it but it's useless now.Typing this on a Note 4.

I went for it. But the 128gb model. Didn't think the extra ram and storage was worth the extra 250. I already have a 400gb SD card so I'm good. Maybe next year.So tempted to pre-order one. There's definitely a 512GB Note 9 with my name on it out there somewhere.
I upgraded from a Note5 to a Note8 and it was a fairly drastic difference, Note9 will only be more so.I'm also still on the Note 5 and I'm not feeling compelled to upgrade, especially for $1k+.
I figure if I'm gonna upgrade a perfectly good Note 8 might as well go all the way.I went for it. But the 128gb model. Didn't think the extra ram and storage was worth the extra 250. I already have a 400gb SD card so I'm good. Maybe next year.
The "free" headphones are back ordered already.
How are you registering for them? I thought you had to download the Shop Samsung app on the Note 9 after you get it to register for the free gift..
Can you buy it unlocked directly from Samsung? I don't do contracts.
I'll bet you can't even tell me why. I'm gonna be honest, I will never understand why people are so obsessed with "stock" Android. It's theme is ugly and has massively stripped functionality. In fact, almost everything that Google has built into Android 9 (except the wellbeing monitor, which could easily be done in S-Health and probably will be soon) has been built into the Samsung Experience for years now. Scrolling screenshots, multi- and floating windows, locking volume keys to media audio, etc. People are acting like having that stuff in Android 9 is some massive revelation, but Samsung has been doing it for years.Never ever have I liked touch wiz, hated it.
Well that's all personal preference. Should not have used hate as that induces a much more negative connotation. I have not been around the latest Samsung devices but I know the s5, 6, and 7 my sister had always lagged and stuttered less than a year in, especially the launcher. Now all phones I think exhibit some sort of slowness after a year but everyone I know who's had these devices complained about it more often than I did on devices that ran stock. You can and contracts don't exist in the US anymore. However, if you buy a US Unlocked/Unbranded model, it has the Snapdragon chipset and will not be bootloader unlocked. You will need an Exynos version to unlock the bootloader, but that's a pointless exercise as you will blow the Knox eFuse and disable Knox and anything that utilizes it, including Samsung Pay, S-Health and Secure Folder.

Edit: I should clarify that I really mean I'll never understand why the "stock android" zealots want to force every device to run only stock android like a Pixel does. What do you guys want, the entire android market to be just like the iPhone?

This reminds me of the S8 preorder debacle. The fuckers had a "limited number" of preorder bonuses that you were supposed to unlock when your phone got there. HOWEVER, if you pre-ordered from samsung directly it looked like your phone was automatically registered, and those of us to got it through their carrier found out the hard way that the good pre-order bonuses were already claimed by the time most people got their phones powered up. It really pissed me off.

Yea this is also what I was talking about. I'd like to keep a phone more than a year but I keep having to hand down my phones to family members. For me it has to do with long term performance. I have owned a great many Samsung flagship phones over the years, and every single one of them started to show slowdowns in performance within one year of use. Every single phone (in my experience). This wasn't as big of an issue back in the day because I would switch out phones yearly, but I've slowed down my upgrade frequency so now long term performance is something I have to consider, and Samsung unfortunately does not do so well in this regard (again, in my experience).
Unfortunately the Pixel 3 XL looks awfully ugly. I now wait to see what the battery life on the smaller Pixel will be, and how that compares to the new iPhones.
