I kept my Note 4 for a while too, it just had some minor issues since it was a Verizon N4 and I switched to AT&T.
LOL, plus it just grated on me to be stuck with the same phone when I had had what I really wanted. I dont regret switching to the S7e- end of the day it was the best choice for me.

I really do like the S8, especially the plus. I could be very happy with one... if I didn't know the N8 was on the way. Messing with an S8 in person and its just stunning.

I'm very frugal with every other bit of tech- same desktop, home server and laptop computers for years, same home entertainment stuff. But I freely admit I'm on the consumer treadmill when it comes to phones- and namely Samsung phones. Not as bad as many, but when 'the new shiny' comes out, it definitely turns my head, and more and more, my wallet! I guess I don't feel so bad cause I'm frugal with everything else. Gotta splurge somewhere.

I'm getting a lot of stuttering with the S8 - so I decided to go to the S8+ -- maybe having UFS 2.1 instead of the UFS 2.0 in the S8 will improve things.

Doing what, what apps, themes and services are you using?

I've got zero stuttering, period.

Getting really good battery life this week. The only thing I have I turned off is AOD, it seems to be consuming more power than it did on my S7e. This is with light usage with 1.5hrs SOT.

I was also getting some stuttering when bring the app drawer up and down. Setting Animation Scale to off made everything fast and fluid.
Very happy with the phone and definitely a nice upgrade over the S7e.

I'm not really sure what you expect me to say, I'm using my phone like I normally use. Between Relay, taking photos, GPS Navi, SSH/Terminal. The fact of the matter is, for it is stuttering and quite a bit. I have to restart the phone at least once every day or two. The back gets quite warm as well with little usage.

I changed over the the S8+ now, it seems a lot smoother, so my S8 may be faulty.

my S8 may be faulty.

I like now nobody ever jumps to this conclusion first. No, it's always "laggy pos Samsung sucks #pixel".

I have zero lag of any kind on my device except the application manager takes a couple seconds to load the app sizes and scrolling will be choppy till it does. Other than that, it's perfect.

Seems to me that ratio of screen has increased. But I don't like that Samsung keep launching new version every three- four months.

Not really... it's still operating like clockwork: a flagship Galaxy S phone in the spring and a new Note in the late summer/early fall. All the other introductions in between are usually low-end and niche phones!

Their flagships are pretty much on a 1 year cycle. Galaxy and Note are two different series of phones, so releasing months apart shouldn't be an issue

Got a "cheap" s8+ to hold me over till the note, looking for a good glass screen protector for it now. Any opinions?

There aren't any from what I can see. They all have pretty bad reviews with the same complaints... basically the curved screens are a bitch to conform to and the edges pull up. Seems like the only good reviewed ones are wet applied "soft" screen protectors.

Whitestone Dome seems to be the only one that actually is designed to adhere to every part of the display.

I came across that one today. Given the price not sure I want to experiment though the only negative reviews seem to be people that had trouble with the installation. All that got it on OK think it's great.

Why can't I quick charge this S8+ with my Anker 5-port 40-watt wall charger that's quick charge 2.0 compatible? It's got nothing else in use so it should have all amp/wattage available to it. Or a white wall charger that I believe came with it?

I can quick charge it with a RavPower battery pack though. Not sure I understand the difference.

Are you using the same cable for both?

There is another one that is supposed to have 'nano suction' in the middle of the screen to keep the protector on the phone, but they're currently only on alibaba, and you have to get a minimum of 100. But so far that one seems ok, however, it covers the entire screen so may not be very case-compatible.

Are you using the same cable? Quick Charging is picky about cables. I charge mine off an Aukey 2 port quick charger along with my work iPhone. Works great.

Got my Verizon s8+ from Sammy last week, finally got around to opening it up on sunday. Took me about 2 hours to convert to a to version, in part as I've never really messed with rooting bit also since I was probably too tired but the time I started and ran into trouble using the non plus files at first. If I would have done another right after would have been less than a 20 minute process.

It is quite a nice handset, slowly working through settings and going over the differences from the 7.

Afterwords I used the switch program to transfer everything, said it would be 50 minutes for about 19gb, mostly photo data on sd card, but took a fraction of that for the actual transfer. Did then take a bit of time to install all the apps it transferred. Only 2 oddities i came across, still had to do logins for all the apps as if I had just installed then new and it loaded all the SD card contents into the phones memory so I'll have to transfer them over manually.

64gb base phone memory though is real nice.

My unlocked S8 is arriving tomorrow. Excited to finally try out Samsung Pay.

@lupi: Is your S8+'s display defect-free? I am hoping to get a flawless panel!

I just tried using the same cable that does fast charging on my RAVPower battery pack. I plug that same cable (generic cable plus a generic USB-C adapter at that) into my trusty Anker 4-port wall charger and it's not fast charging. I put it right back onto my RAVPower and it fast charges. The RAVPower does specifically have a Quick Charge port. I thought the Anker would quick charge it as long as it has the juice available, as they say it's at least quick charge 2.0 supported: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GTGETFG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (someone said it supports quick charge 2.0). It also links to a newer version of this product and that says "supports fastest possible charge, but does not support qualcomm quick charge." Confused.

I suppose only something like this would do it as far as Anker wall chargers? I thought it was only about the power output available and not about a specific technology.

Have noticed that not having as many errors with touching side while holding the phone and triggering something as I did on the edge.

Looking for a new car mount, would like one that holds the phone and attaches to the window.

Cleanest Samsung phone I have had ever. For $425+tax it is a no brainer, IMO.

I have to send in either the Nexus 4 or the Note 3. Which one should I let go?
