I too have the gray S8+. Delivered today, looks pretty amazing. Didn't really need to upgrade, my S7 Edge is in perfect shape but just wanted to. Playing around with it, getting everything setup how I want. So far I am really enjoying it. Using Verizon with old school unlimited. Damn this phone is a good looking piece of gadgetry. No case for me.
Not even a skin? I was thinking of skin + glass screen protector combo. I kind of wish the phones were a tiny bit narrower (~2mm maybe) for people with stubby fingers. I saw the phones again today and a couple of things I noticed that I did not at first :
1. Glass back shows fewer fingerprints. It picks up every touch and becomes unsightly in no time but compared to their predecessors they do not look nearly as messy. It still gets messy, but I can acknowledge that there is a progress. lol.
2. Colors in basic mode do not appear as accurate as they used to be. Both blue and red are noticeably oversaturated and clearly outside the sRGB gamut. Green appeared OK. This was observed on all S8 and S8+ phones I saw today. Probably not a deal breaker, especially in the context of other improvements made on the display, but it is still a step back in an area where the accuracy is expected.
3. (continuing on display) White is excellent. Perhaps the most pleasing white I have seen on a smartphone. That I could say that on AMOLED screen.. oh my how times have changed.
4. Front-facing camera still defaults to the "Beauty Mode," and there does not appear to be a way to fix it short of shooting RAW. (is that possible with the front camera?) Your skin looks like that of 2 year old
kids babies, and I do not like that at all although I could see why they are doing it. It is vintage Samsung.
5. Again I think they could have made the regular S8 ever so slightly smaller since they are releasing the plus size simultaneously anyway. An 5.5" screen instead of a 5.8" would have made a fantastic "compact" phone without sacrificing much.
