Game levels you really hate playing?

The one I've just experienced is the 'forest' level in Return to Castle Wolfenstein (the one where you have to stealth your way through the outdoor compound in order to get into the rocket base).

On this occasion however it turned out that the zip file I kept of the game folder included all the auto-saves from when I had previously completed the game, so instead of me putting off the game for another time because of an unenjoyable level, after a couple of attempts at it I just loaded the auto-save for the next level

Another one I heard recently was how someone playing XCOM: Enemy Within will rage-quit if the 'Newfoundland' mission is sprung on them early on in the campaign... I feel their pain

Mission in BF4 ended up having a bug at least for me,you grab c4 off some roof tops and must take out a few tanks on foot and i ended up slapping 3 sticks on one tank and blowing it up to find out Tony Stark had turned red coat and given the enemy army indestructible tanks and guess what happened next?Hes dead Jim.

Never gave it another go.But those Battlefield campaigns are a snore anyways.Playing a few hours of those works better then a pint of whiskey or 3 sleeping pills at least for me. God knows i have trouble sleeping these days, load up this campaign trust me.

Argh, that reminds me, the final level of Tomb Raider: Chronicles - IIRC the walkthroughs state that one must not save the game between points X and Y because otherwise the game is non-completable. The final level as well, which is a bit of a bummer. Thank you Core Design for never bothering to patch it.

That "sniper town" level in the original Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. The game is great fun overall, but that level is just cruel...

The portion of the jail level in HL2 where you're locked in and have to use the automated turrets to help you. When HL2 came out, I was stuck there for days.

I remember that. For me that's very near the line between "infuriating" and "a lot of challenging fun" (does that game have difficulty levels? I don't remember).

The level in the original Command and Conquer where you started off as the commando and had to make it across the map to blow up.. something (comm arrays maybe?).

stealth mission with automatic failure if spotted. specially if the game is NOT based on stealth.

The seemingly mandatory mission where you get captured and all of your equipment gets confiscated.

Halo 1 - the library, two betrayals (assault on the control room repeat), and keyes (truth and reconciliation repeat).

so like the last half of the game, haha

Frequent encounter areas, like Academia 400AF in Final Fantasy XIII-2. After a certain point you even stop getting any experience from the battles. The theme is great but even that gets tedious after a while.

I don't remember either. Once I learned the trick I didn't have any problem and can still go back to this day and beat it first try. It's just that, back then, it was (as your said) infuriating.

Which trick did you go with? I normally barricade myself into one of the tiny little rooms with three turrets (putting them back up if I think I have the time) and hope they don't use grenades.

There was a little pass through hallway in the center that went from one side to the other. It had some upgrades or ammo, IIRC. I set one turret on each end then picked a decent spot for the third to cover a blind spot on one side. I covered the other side's blind spot and bounced around resetting them when they got knocked over. A lot of moving, but it works for me.

I used to hate Atlas in Hard Reset, till i found out how easy it really is if your not out in the open and repeat a pattern of covering behind the statue, pop out and hit him a few times and cover again. Quite fun now and damn rewarding.

Any level in any game where there is a set time limit to do something damn near impossible,Super Marios are a exception but the rest can go f off.

Puzzle type levels where you have to figure stuff out. My patience is too short for that anymore. I'd take a good Boss fight showdown anytime tho.

Some of the "timed" puzzles in games. I get too nervous when having to complete complete a bunch of actions in one minute or so.I usually fail and have to replay to get it right, especially if I have no idea where the level has placed objects I need to interact with.
