Game Limited by CPU...

just out of curiosity, i know my current rig in sig is old, but in all honesty, if i put another 1GB of PC3200 in and a 6800gt and push it to ultra speeds or the ati equivalent (since they aren't putting out a 7800gtx in agp, yet) what games will i not be able to play at 1280x1024 with all the eye candy on and still maintain a minimum of 50fps?

depend on what game your playing, you would get more than 50fps even if you only have P4 2.8ghz. If i were you, i wouldn't buy the extra 1 gig and just save it for another cpu/mobo. 1 gig is plenty enough, unless your planning to play BF2 on that cpu, then it might get a little choppy...

1GB OCZ PC-3200(OCZ has the best Tech Support, PERIOD, only ram i will ever buy!!

Why would you need tech support for RAM? I thought it either works right or it dosn't.


I would try just getting the video card, if your not happy then the ram.

bf2 is what i am playing currently but only at 800x600 with most setting on high/medium and 2AA, but would like to play @ 1280x1024 on high with 4-6AA.

if it doesn't work and you have trouble. i have had companies that would not rma my ram or give me a lot of "static" for doing so even though the problem was not created by me. when i had a problem with a stick of OCZ they were extremely cool to talk to and too care of the problem so quick i was amazed, didn't even ask a question, just rmaed and got my machine backup in no time.

mostly all ram has lifetime warranty I havent seen any that wasnt so ya tech support is pretty much good for all.

Note that BF2 doesn't even support 1280x1024 without a tweak of some sort.

if i had the stick here i would name the brand, but i had thrown it away, since they would not take care of it...:|

it was just that my experience with OCZ was extremely good. i have use other manf warranties before, but OCZ went above and beyond what i was expecting. maybe it was the interaction with a person that actually had a personality and was not in india(no offense), whatever it was it worked for me.

I run 1280x960 in game.. looks fine

A better Video card will help your average FPS but specially on 64 player maps More then one gig of memory is very good and recommended.

thanks, and by the time i go a64, hopefully the 4x512 problem will be fixed...
