Season 1 was perfect. It was setting stuff up well AND was seat-gripping at every episode.
I really miss season 1. It's a league of its own from the rest. I'm rather disappointed GoT hasn't been consistently solid. Other shows like Breaking Bad has like 3 AMAZING seasons and 2 excellent seasons.

It helps that season one mostly only dealt with Ned and Daenerys. Now you've got Jon, Bran, Robb, Jaime, Stanis, and all the people in King's Landing. It's a hell of a lot more to present as one weaving tale.

I love the show, but there are a dozen major characters they are following in more than half a dozen locations. So each storyline is averaging 5 minutes or less per episode. So you almost never get enough of any individual character or their story in an episode.
1) running away from zombies
2) yes it was ros, joffrey like to kill people because hes a sadistic fucker. and little finger let him kill her for betraying him
3) ill let someone more versed in the books answer that one
1. because not only is it a frozen wasteland north of the wall and it sucks to live there in "good" times, they are currently undergoing bad times what with all the white walkers coming back. Go rewatch the opening scene from the very first episode of the series and you'll be reminded why being north of the wall is not a good thing
2. yes it was Ros, she was killed because she betrayed Littlefinger and Joffrey is simply a sadistic prick who is more interested in piercing women with shafts other than his own
3. they were basically just having yet another match as they play the "game of thrones". Basically, Littlefinger was planning to have Sansa go with him to the Vale where he is to marry Lysa Arryn and sure up the Vale of Arryn in favor of the Lannisters (the Vale is one of the the only other "kingdoms" currently not on anyone's side, the other being House Martell, the most southern "kingdom" in Westeros, which is also the house that Princess Myrcella was sent to in order to secure an alliance)
Ros is the red headed whore who is unique to the show, she was introduced in the very first episode and we got to see quite a lot of her boobies, so its pretty sad to see her go
This was one of my favorite episodes of the series so far. So many departures from the books, and though they're laying the foreshadowing on extremely thick, I realize it's for the benefit of the folks who haven't read the series.
How about Melisandre visiting Beric & Thoros? Holy WTF moment. That was weird. But it keeps things fresh. I think they must have merged Edric Storm and Gendry's characters for the show.
I am not complaining about the departures - keeps the show fresh for me. But damn, I think I am more confused than I otherwise would be.
I am biting my tongue nearly off about what is coming. LOL at the folks who think this show sucks. They are setting things up so well.
Yeah, I loved how they did the Melisandre and Thoros scene. In the books, Melisandre always came across as vastly more powerful than Thoros as evidenced by the variety of her abilities, save for the fact that Thoros has been able to revive people from death...I think this meeting in the show is going to add character depth for things we haven't yet seen in the books
for instance, I've always suspected that what happens to Jon Snow will be reversed or mitigated by Melisandre, and this scene is only going to set that up for the show all the better, although I could be way off
And now that you mention it, I think you're right about Edric Storm and Gendry, when I was watching the show I was totally thrown for a loop and was a bit upset by it, but this makes so much sense now. And it makes even more sense considering I think the show has more plans for Gendry than GRRM does, or at least GRRM isn't properly hinting at his intentions for the character.

Mmm the only characters that I'd complain about their showings would probably be Bran and Theon. Theon's was okay (we know where he is), but we didn't get much with Bran... at least from what I know as I don't read the books.
2. that was Ros. listen to Little Finger's monologue. LF sold Ros to Joffrey because Joffrey wanted to try something new which was live human target practice with his crossbow.
3. LF found out Ros was a spy for Varys. he sold Ros to Joffrey who killed her. LF's talking about chaos and how he has used it to rise up the ranks / climb up the ladder. he also talks about people that choose not to climb up the ladder (Sansa), which is why she is crying when watching the ship sail off which has LF on it.
Sansa had an opportunity to escape but didn't because she thought she had a chance at marrying Loras but now she has been informed she is to be wed to Tyrion.

Is anyone else as sick of Theon's torture storyline as I am? Even in the books it was not really leading anywhere, and I never really cared about Theon, even before that.
Can't wait for all the upcoming weddings, until then I don't remember anything exciting happening. And since those will not happen before season 4, the outlook for season 3 is bleak. There'll be some usage of the Unsullied, some action in the North, and I remember nothing else that was very interesting from the books that could happen before those weddings...
Eventually some people are hopefully gonna die!
That will also make the stories easier to follow.
in the books their relationship is a bit more flushed out, the scene in the cave is not the first time they sleep together
sometimes i think you dont actually watch the show
shes crying because she just got fed.
Littlefinger was going to smuggle her out of kings landing at the same time the tyrels were trying to wed her to the gay boy
Tywin does his you are marrying who i say thing
sansa tells LF she is going to stay in KL because she thinks shes going to marry gay boy
the imp breaks the news to her
shes crying as the ship that was going to take her away and "save her" is gone
also she has to marry the imp

Guaranteed the Red Wedding happens episode 9 this season. But really, I wouldn't even mention the word wedding without a spoiler tag. One person has already hinted "derp, someone super duper important is going to die soon!"
Don't have to be Hercule Poirot to put these things together. Please, think of the non-readers.

Yep, this is how the books have been too for a while. It's going to be really interesting to see if people like the show as much after certain stuff happens.
Seriously, those are the sort of TV only scenes that are just incredible for me as a reader. The maneuvering between power players like Tywin and Olenna just puts other characters to shame.
And yeah, Lady Olenna was perfectly cast and perfectly played so far.
Meh........last couple episodes have been....ok...I guess. So many story lines it's hard to put into one show. Ygrette or whatever......she went from being an interesting character to a sappy wet blanket clingy gf straight out of a chick flick, in the span of about 1 episode.
I wish they'd focus more on other story lines like Danyerus (sp), and less on stuff like Theon.

I loved that line and dialogue with varys, really good stuff. I guess you can say that I'm someone that finds the usefulness of chaos in real life as well. I've never seen someone who shared the same feelings as I do about it, lol

Even in the books it was brief flashbacks of how Ramsay messed him up. That's exactly how the show should have played it. That would've given them plenty of time to introduce Strong Belwas!
And the Olenna/Tywin scene was freaking brilliant. Was so funny watching him squirm in his seat. "Oh come on, who hasn't?" Lol.
Also, havent watched the episode but I pretty much know what happens, and have to say this is a very important episode for those bitching about how it was "slow".
